Something’s very wrong with this picture:-

JOHOR BARU: Actor Izi Yahya, known for his villainous roles, died here after a fall during the shooting of a documentary on Saturday. He was 42.

He was initially rushed to a clinic in Mantin, Negri Sembilan, and then referred to the Seremban Hospital.

However, there was no specialist at the hospital to treat Izi, who required immediate surgery for brain haemorrhage.

He had to be rushed to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here when it was learnt that there were also no specialists at the Kuala Lumpur, Selayang and Sungai Buloh hospitals nor at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre. (More)

Condolences to the family of the late Izi Yahya.

Neurosurgeons – those trained to perform surgery on the brain – are a rare and precious specialty in Malaysia.

Emergency room staff normally have a very good idea which government and private hospitals have the required neurosurgeon.
Responsible staff will phone ahead before moving the patient, in case the surgeon is on-leave or otherwise unavailable.

Which makes this news item very odd – why did he have to be shunted around so many times ? I’m very sure KL General Hospital and also UKM Medical Center has a consultant neuro surgeon.

With a serious injury like that, you have what you call a “golden hour” to save his life. After that…its over.

He is dead…..due to no proper medical help. How many more we have heard…. dead due to carelessness or no proper medical help.
I guess it is up to the relatives to take legal actions..if there is a valid case to do so.
All we can do is offer our sympathy to the family.

#1 Neurosurgeons aren’t that rare.

According to this http://www.mmhd.com.my/EstSearchSP.asp
there are 8 1/2 neuros in HKL & 1 1/2 in Sg Buloh & 6 neuros between HUKM & UMMC. Its strange that all 16 of them were unavailable on the day.

There are also more of them scattered around private hospitals in Klang Valley & Malacca.

just my wild imagination…

“doo… doo…” (phone ring tone)

“Hello… Hospital XXX. Apa mau?”

“Sini Hospital YYY. ada emergency lah. Kepala otak berdarah dalam, kena operate segera. Ada neuro surgeon kat sana tak?”

“Err… doctor pergi cuti lah.”

Kes ni popular sebab Izi Yahya pelakon dan public figure. Sebenarnya masalah macam ni banyak dah berlaku especially pada makcik dan pakcik kat kampung yang tak berapa kena layan dengan baik kat hospital.

My neighbour last year ayah dia accident kat ELITE dan the nearest hospital is Putarajaya. St John Ambulan datang ambik dan hantar. Hospital Putarajaya tak nak terima dengan alasan bukan orang Putarajaya dan tiada adik beradik atau ayah yang kerja gomen. Suruh pergi Serdang Hospital 15 km away. Itu tu pun dia orang tak nak tolong hantar guna ambulance. Terpaksa jiran saya usaha sendiri utk transfer. Akibat compilation, after 2 weeks meninggal di Hospital Serdang. Kalau saya ada masa scene kat Hospital Putarajaya saya akan sound mereka ” Duit cukai yang aku bayar nilah buat belanja bina hospital dan bayar gaji korang…..” What a joke…??
