First it was macaque-trapping.
Then it was porcine-bashing/burying
Now it’s dog-catching.

Pardon me…f*&^%@ them! Please put crow shooting competition in the first rung. I remember questioning them about the crow shooting competition when I was 13 years old. The retentive answer was ‘due to health reason’. After decimating our local icon in the last 3 decades, they are still shooting the gagak for sport and think it is their neanderthal rights. Human that cannot loves animal will not understand the ecology of love itself. How then can we expect them to administrate a municipal? May the curse of killing a monyet be upon them. May they dream about having their brains stuffed out of a table hole for connoisseurs’ delight.

Re comment above on the crows – they are not Malaysian birds but an introduced pest that destroys our local birdlife with considerable enthusiasm and intelligence, especially skilled at hunting out nests and gobbling the eggs and live young.

Frankly, I would rather the gagak died, than the murai and the merbah and murai.

If you want a reason to kill a living creature, you can always come up with an explanation. Oh yes, I came from Klang, and crows don’t just shit on your car. They prefer to shit on your head most of the time and it is considered bad luck. Yes, crows do feast on other birdies. So do lions, bears and homosapiens. When we disturb our natural ecology, animals and birds suffer. Crows population multiplied not because they fed on birdies but on our spawned rubbish everywhere. I really do not wish to intrude into Eli space with a lengthy discussion on animal-human relationship, the pro and con of foreign species introduced into the indigenous population. Did our indigenous population birds survived in strength after the crows were shot? It wasn’t the crows but the Westport development project that drove many beautiful raptors and eagles from my coast…until today, I still miss them. It is my humble opinion that our municipals are quick to settle ecological score with the gunning operasi just for the fun of it. I did agreed that our crow population needed control decades ago but why did my municipal organised a crow shooting competition recently? When was the last time you seen a burung gagak? My daughter saw one evil looking gagak 5 years ago. Even our brown sparrows are missing. When are we going to recognize our hutan babi or wild boar as one of our unique heritage and be accorded dual protection?
