I wish to thank everyone who had called and sent me SMSs, left messages in my email box and blog. I’m sorry for not being able to take all your calls and reply to some of your SMSs in time. I am grateful for your support and kind words of encouragement, especially from my constituents, my party and PR members, Exco members and old friends. This means the world to me.

I also wish to thank some fellow politicians from the other opposite end of the political divide for their encouragement too.

Press Release: 16 Feb 2009

I was informed on Friday 13 February, 2009 by journalists from the Malay Mail that they have in their possession intimate photos of myself and that the newspaper will be publishing a story about these photographs.

I was told that some people are trying to distribute photos/videos showing me asleep in partial nudity and also in intimate positions.

The distribution and publication of these photos/video is a malicious attack on my personality. This constitutes a gross outrage on my modesty, a gross invasion of my privacy, and in particular the sanctity of my personal life. It is being done by unscrupuluous persons to embarrass and discredit me。

I am a victim in this incident.

I have yesterday lodged a police report in relation to this matter and I will fully cooperate with the police in their investigation. I will therefore not speculate publicly about those responsible for this gross invasion of my privacy.

I have received a lot of support from my supporters, friends, colleagues and members of my constituency. I wish to thank them for their concern, support and encouragement.

My family members are standing behind me. I would like to appeal to the media to give me and my family members some breathing space in this trying time so that I can weather this huge challenge.

I will in the meantime continue to carry out my task of serving the people of Selangor faithfully.

Eli,

Hold fast and take the scum who did this to court, as a lesson and an example.

2. Colleen Soo - February 16, 2009

I wish to express my support to you in this time of need. Here is my take on this, it is no big deal! Was there a moral issue? If a married person have an affair then yes there is issue, there are no moral high ground issue nor there is any scandal. People are allowed to have relationships before marriage, so what’s the big deal? That’s private, it is no ones business. What is important is the person’s work as a rakyat rep and this is just cheap shot when a person good public standing can’t be attacked. Shame on them.

3. amethyst213 - February 16, 2009

i fully support you in this incident. you have done nothing wrong and had been doing a lot for the rakyat.

the culture of invasion of privacy to push down a person a deplorable but Malaysian politicians seem to get a hang out of it. please remain as an exco and teach them a lesson.

to show support, i myself will post a blog entry in support of you and condemning the act. hope other bloggers will do the same.

please be strong…i hope to see you as a leader for many years to come.

regards

Pathetic this Khir Toyo isn’t it? He has Javanese ancestry and is strategically stirring up racial hatred towards non-Malay communities just as they did in Indonesia, towards non-Javanese communities – remember the massacre of the Chinese Indonesians, Christians in Sulawesi, Christian Ibans and West Papuans in Kalimantan and Balinese Hindus? Plus, during his reign as Selangor MB, many low cost flats and land for villages have been sold to Indonesian Javanese migrants – check out Batu Caves! Can an investigative jornalist do some investigation to see if he goes to any lounge and sleep with the hostesses there, as typical of many Malay politicians? When I was detained in the cell, during the International Human Rights Day March in Dec 207, a Malay hostess who was also in the cell for taking drugs, from a lounge in Klang told me, not just politicians but also many Malay Special Branch are forcing the boss to force hostesses to provide sexual service as “bribe”! Such hypocrites! And they dare to judge Ms. Wong, in her personal space. Besides, the focus should be on the criminal ex-boyfriend, who is the scum of the earth, for selling off (I bet!) such private photos! Be strong and challenge such hypocrisy with dignity and confidence; I will pray for you with Christ today Ms. Wong!

13. amoker - February 16, 2009

Eli, somebody is up to no good and i guess you are too strong for them to bribe. Do support you and in standing for your principle. Do take care.

14. Mountebank - February 16, 2009

I condemn such atrocity which has grisly trespassed your privacy .
You were not doing anything wrong and You were merely a victim in such appalling event.
I am your supporter and I will always back you up in whatever situation.

15. Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah bin Sanusi - February 16, 2009

16. Lin - February 16, 2009

YB Elizabeth Wong;

I am a Mother with a young son. As a woman with a career in bizness, I know you would be very stressed out. Please do not let these Vindictive people pressure you out from the political scene.

I am very proud of your achievements as a dynamic leader. Do not despair & DO NoT give up HOPE. Let the Little TOYOL jump around & say whatever he wants.
In the end it is the FINAL results that counts. Honesty & True Dedication with Hard Work will determine your Success.

You have taken the Road Less Traveled so Ride On thru the Tunnel & See The Light.

May you be Bless by the Holy Triple Gems! Will keep you in my prayers daily.

17. Mr Big - February 16, 2009

Be Strong! Dont resign! Dont give them a reason to use such unscrupulous act to gain political mileage!
The rakyat is behind you

18. J Y luo - February 16, 2009

Elizabeth,

Carry on your duty as a MP.
Stay strong, we are behind you!

19. YC - February 16, 2009

YB, please do not succumb to such underhanded, unscrupulous tactics used by the Dirty Regime.

You are the elected representative, and hence you’ve been given the mandate and a heavy responsibility to shoulder. Do not let such dirty tricks do you in.

The priority is to nab the culprit who invaded your privacy using any legal means. I do not think this would be too difficult, but unfortunately I doubt the policy force will be cooperative on this one, since this issue was mean to be politicized from the beginning.

I do not think you owe anyone any explanation. You are as much a victim as anyone else. The Dirty Regime could have executed such low-ball tactic on anyone else, and unfortunately, you, YB, had been chosen as their prime target.

The more they want to bring you down, the more you should show them your determination.

You have our support! Whatever you do, don’t step down. Your work for this country is not finished yet!

20. Charlie Chan - February 16, 2009

For those who claim the higher moral ground and demand your resignation, we need to understand just where they learn basic manners. If being undressed in privacy of your own room is wrong, than we assume such person(s) never changed and may be this explains why they look and sound so foul.

21. Paul Wong - February 16, 2009

Hey Elizabeth – my vote is still yours, for now and evermore!!!!!

22. 鈧凯 - February 16, 2009

Sis Eli, we all behind you…

23. emond - February 16, 2009

24. emond - February 16, 2009

Khaterina…are u racist???????????…….

25. hasilox - February 16, 2009

Hang in there. Don’t give in to criminals.

26. Mr Smith - February 16, 2009

DON’T RESIGN. What is so sinful about the naked body? We were born naked. Maybe the Indonesian Illegal Immigrant was born with his clothes on and maybe he has sex fully dressed too.
Until and unless the Pakatan Government is placed against the wall, you have to stay on and fight.
The people are behind you.
Put that SOG behind bars. Hopefully, he is not a married man or else you will be fried.

28. Mikester - February 16, 2009

It is a down right shame that the likes of Khir Toyo are taking advantage of this great injustice done unto a sister!
It is deeply hurtful that we malaysians can stoop so low. When I hear the voice of Syed Hamid, i turn green and feel like vomitting to his face.
These are the monsters we have entrusted our country to.

be strong, Liz. We are behind you all the way. Those behind this scheme must be identified and severely dealt with. And i pray that the Malaysian Police will do just that.

God bless you nad keep you safe!

TOYO IS A KIND OF NIGHT DEMON THAT SEEKS ITS VICTIMS USUALLY WHEN THEY ARE ASLEEP. HE IS A VERY EVIL AND DANGEROUS CREATURE THAT MUST BE EXTERMINATED.HE WILL MEET HIS FATE SOON WHEN GOD DECIDE THE RIGHT TIME.

33. daniel chong - February 16, 2009

To hell to Khir Toyo, the Toyo that sucks BLOOD AND lurks around at night looking for victims. Whatever he has done to Pakatan will fall back on him.
WE FIRMLY STAND BY OUR HONOURABLE YB during this trying times. Never say die to your foes. Remember Winston Churchill’s speech who had never gave up when England was severely bombed day and night by Germany.
Conspiracy in politics is common but never give up and stay true to conscience. Stay true and transparent so that God will be on your side.
So long you are innocent and righteous, no flying arrows could hurt you.
All the naked photos will not mean anything to you and us because we know that this is not your own doing. It is your enemies’ doing so why should you quit. Just stand up to the toyo the little demon.

34. Oneofthesedays - February 16, 2009

Hang in there Liz. You have the support of a lot of good folks.

Wish I knew you well enough for you to tell me who the $%^& is that did this. Real men know what to do with the likes of that &*()(*&.

Court is too good for low life scum like him.

35. tailik - February 16, 2009

Rakyat is behind u ! keep up ur good work as ADUN & EXCO !

36. Samuel Y - February 16, 2009

Hi Elizabeth,

There was absolutely nothing wrong with what you did in the photos. You serve the people well. Those who criticise you claim to be holier than thou but rob the people to no end. Know that you hold the moral high ground. Please do not resign. You will only vindicate them if you do so. The people need you in times like these.

37. daniel chong - February 16, 2009

THE TOYO CREATURE HAS A MENTALITY WORSE THAN A DOG. I CAN TRAIN A DOG AND CAT TO BE DECENT BUT THE TOYO IS UNTRAINABLE.
HE IS MUCH WORSE THAN A BEAST SINCE HE HAS NO HUMAN VALUES.
HE IS DEHUMANISED CREATURE THAT DESERVES NO RESPECT. I RATHER RESPECT A CAT AND DOG THAN A TOYO.

38. furziah affandi - February 16, 2009

Dear Eli,
Please do not RESIGN because it will show how weak women are. Stand up to the BN morons!
We, women of Malaysia… need a woman like you. Not women like Sharizat Jalil, Rafidah Aziz or Azalina Othman.
Don’t give up. We are all behind you, Eli.

39. Gim C Tan - February 16, 2009

Hi Eli,

I have listened to some of your speeches from “you-tube”, Malaysiakini website and of course your blog. You are intelligent and a very capable leader. There are still plenty to come from yourself to serve the people in Malaysia.

I would like to say a few words in here, firstly it is always challenging to be a female politician and secondly in an environment that is hostile and dangerous. I want you to stay extremely strong, hold on to your principle and be bold in this situation and circumstances. You have your personal right to do whatever personal things privately. Nobody should questions your dignity in your private life.

I would like to sum up that this person or group of people that do this thing to you has got no dignity, low moral, coward and bestial like an animal.

Don’t quit when the tough gets going, fight for your rights and freedom.

Best Regards,
Gim Tan, Sydney, Australia.

46. Katharina Sri (former: Noor Aza Othman) - February 16, 2009

@emond – February 16, 2009:” Khaterina…are u racist???????????……”

I’m not a racist emond, but Khir Toyo is! I have been observing that such racial hatred are stirred more and more within broader and deceitful political agenda by Javanese Indonesians and Pakistanis, towards the non-Malay/non-Muslim communities in Malaysia and including Sabah. We, Malaysians, used to live in harmony between different races and religion but Malays are being instigated to feel hatred now towards other races and religion by these two main culprits, especially during the eladership of that twisted pervert, Khir Toyo! If we want to prevent such barbaric crimes happening in Malaysia, as keep on happening in Indonesia towards non-Javanese/non-Muslim communities, we must be very vigilant against this hidden agenda. By the way, my observation is due to my Social Anthropological background and analysis! By the way, Ms. Wong, don’t let this sexist and perverted macho men bring you down! We women are behind you all the way!

Katharina Sri (former: Noor Aza Othman)

47. johnny - February 16, 2009

YB Elizabeth, We will always behind you. The bloody bastard toyol was real retarded asshole. Do not listen to him.

48. And Justice for ALL !!! - February 16, 2009

Elizabeth,
Stay strong as I saw many of us are being strong for you too. You can see how many of us support you. All of Selangor if not Malaysia knows that Toyo is just another pest to the society. You can immediately see how desperate he is to get back at PKR who beat him flat in the past elections. Basically, to you , he is no more a\of a obstacle or a challenge anymore. I dunno if he can read english but the more he says or do in public to put down PKR, the deeper the hole he is digging for himself.

Just focus on how you can help the police to overcome this problem for you. But then agin, another problem will start – The Police…..hmmph.

Whatever it is, we are all behind you.

49. Eric - February 16, 2009

DO NOT RESIGN! The Rakyat is behind you. Your performance as a YB is excellent. Whatever low-blow the other side is taking will never affect your status. We need you Eli.

If there are hidden hands behind the circulation of these photos (as there seems to be), then they ought to be named and shamed in public. We do not want the state to be snooping into people’s private life.

What you do in your home is your business. “My home is my castle”.
People like the brainless baldie, just tell him to piss off! You need not have to feel embarassed or guilty. You owe no one an explaination or an apology.
Let see what will the authority do. Whether they apprehend the culptit and slap him with the full might of the law or allowing it to slip away quietly. I suspect it is politically motivated.
Go on with your life as normal, I will still show you my same respect.

63. Ipohmali70 - February 16, 2009

Elizabeth,

I am a father of 2 cute boys and husband of an equally beautiful wife. I have not seen the offending pictures nor do I intend to do so even if offered.

I hope that you will be tough to weather this storm over the sick pictures that was taken without your consent. There was talk that the pictures were probably taken by your ex-boyfriend. If that is so and if he IS the offender, then will you please post his mugshot so that we Malaysians can see how a pervert looks like. While you’re at it, do post his name and number as well. He wants to make you famous. But Noooo…. you make HIM more famous than the wolf in sheep’s clothing who calls herself Hee Yit Foong.

Pretty soon this perv won’t be able to get a job (who wants to hire a perv?) or get a girl to settle down with him. And just in case he is already married, let his wife wring his ears just in case he tries to do the same thing to her!

Don’t get MAD! Get EVEN!!!

And above all…. don’t resign! You did nothing wrong in the eyes of Malaysians! Only in the eyes of a certain 1st generation pendatang from Indon!

Sincerely,

ipohmali70

64. Satya - February 16, 2009

Dear Elizabeth,

I just want to express my support for you. May you and your family stay strong throughout this ordeal. I hope our failing justice system will at least get the person who did this to you. Obviously you’ve done nothing wrong here and as you put it, you are the victim. Keep fighting the good fight as an elected representative of the good people of Selangor, and don’t let the scum get you down. God bless!

65. NS - February 16, 2009

We are with you, YB. Do not be afraid of the evil forces, and remember that good will eventually triumph over evil. Be strong, and we are all with you. May God bless you,and may God punish all the evil doers. Show them hell.

66. Ida Bakar - February 16, 2009

Dear Elizabeth,

Don’t you dare resign over this matter. You have lodge a police report. I can think of a few charges that can be levied againsts these ignorani (ignorant + a**e , plural).

1. Stalking – to illegally follow and watch someone, usually a woman, over a period of time. Well, they must have done so for some time to catch the ‘moment’.

2. Blackmail – threatening you with publication of the pictures unless you agree to do something against your will

3. Possession of indecent material – what you do in the privacy of your own home is up to you. Possession of material deemed indecent, not to mention obtained by illegal means, should be enough to land these sickos in the clink.

How’s that for a start? Chin up and head high – and two fingers to these sickos.

HI elizabeth
Be strong ,do not resign. You have served the people well.U are still our MP.
This person is the scum of the earth. How low can this person be.He will face his karma.

83. wandererAUS - February 16, 2009

Elizabeth, if you resigned, you will fall to their trap. Show them the middle finger!
I believe you have the guts and the strength to keep these scumbags at bay. Move on with your life. “Every dog has its day”

84. john - February 16, 2009

Hi Eli,

Just don’t give up and stand strong. RAKYAT are behind you!

85. el - February 16, 2009

Eli, hold fast. You have the support of the people.

86. R.Too - February 16, 2009

Dear Eli,

who are we to jugde another?our enemies will only resort to such under handed ways to attack us………..simply bcoz they feel threathened, and u were doing things for the rakyat which they can’t even think of.

mankind comes with a conscience-if you can live with a clear conscience…..so be it.what others judge you by is simply not important.

be steadfast and stay strong……for the rakyat needs you to spearhead ‘change’ in this country.

and remember:the true worth of a leader is in over-coming adversity and ending up stronger!!

87. alafuw - February 16, 2009

Dear Eli,

As a rakyat, what is most important to me is the work you’re doing for the nation. What you do with your private life is not my concern. All those people who cry for your head to roll, especially Khir Toyo, have they led a ‘pure’ life, even by their own definition? In any case, for me, what they are implying you’ve done is not even wrong. If you’ve taken money from corporations in return for approval of certain hillside projects, now that’s criminal and immoral. Who the hell cares what happens in people’s bedrooms, including Khir Toyo’s? I know mere words are not much comfort or help but I’d like to offer my unwaivering support to you anyhow, Elizabeth. I truly hope things will work out fine in the end.

To Khir Toyo, you can kiss my ass. Kau nak aibkan orang? Nampak sangat takde modal sebab orang tu tak buat keje terkutuk macam kau. Setakat amik gambar, bole blah la. Amik la gambar setimbun pun, takde maknanya. Bukannya orang tu buat sial kat rakyat macam kau. Malaun betul la kau ni. Kemaruk nak mampus jawatan MB. Minta dijauhkan Allah orang macam kau. Jijik tau tak. (Sorry to pollute your blog with not so refined words, Eli, but this is the only way the message can through his thick skull.)

Hugs,
Abdul ‘Afuw

Please do not succumb to the pressure of this outrageous gutter politics.

There is absolutely no reason for you to resign. We need you to continue the good work in the Selangor state exco.

Outrageous gutter politics

91. James - February 16, 2009

Elizabeth,

The people need strong leaders like you and we stand fully behind you.

Let us emerge from this with only a stronger resolve to fight for what is right.

Now go and kick some slandering ass!

92. Ewan - February 16, 2009

Hi Elizabeth ,

As a voter in Selangor I support you. Hang tough and don’t be intimidated… It is clearly the worst case of invasion of privacy… best regards ewan.

93. jimmy teh - February 16, 2009

Don’t quit. You did nothing wrong. As an elected ADUN and EXCO, there is still a long way to go. At this trying times, we need you to stand strong and carry on with your good work. Khir Toyo is a fanatic. He doesn’t know what is right and wrong. You are a victim of privacy intrusion. The intruder should be brought to justice. I hope the police will carry on with the investigation and put the culprit behind bars. Could this be politically-motivated? This is another area we should not count out. Without prejudice.

94. Capt - February 16, 2009

This is a despicable act, whoever was responsible for it should face the full consequences of the law.. I am a resident in Bandar Utama, a voter in your constituency, and those who have supported you, still support you solidly, and have high regards of your work as an ADUN…You are a very young politician, and this episode would remind you to be more vigilant as you mature..

95. bamboo river - February 16, 2009

BTW, emond or is it demon?

You are an oxymoron idiot who don’t even understand the word ‘MORAL’.

Up yours !!! 😦

96. Bukit Lanjan voters - February 16, 2009

We may not be your supporter in Bukit Lanjan during the last election, but we strongly disagree and condemn such invasion of privacy, irregardless whether you are a common person or an elected representative of the people. In this aspect, we are strongly behind you and please do not resign over such an incident.

Show them your mettle and the strong character of today woman. You are to PKR what Datin Chew Mei Fun is to MCA.

End of the day, your constituents will judge you by your performance and not something that happen in the privacy of your home without your knowledge or consent.

And for those critics and accusers, there is always judgement day.

97. ARU - February 16, 2009

98. mamak - February 16, 2009

99. alafuw - February 16, 2009

By the way, I wrote the following at the Malaysian Insider. Just calling a spade a spade. Thought I’d paste it here.

“For crying out loud, so what if the woman slept au naturel or slept with her boyfriend? Did it result in hillside projects being approved or holidays being paid for her whole family by state funds or her Swiss bank account being filled up by the fistful?

As a rakyat and voter, I can say this to Elizabeth Wong: They’re trying to shame you. But there is nothing to be ashamed about. You can look me in the eye and you won’t find any flicker of judgment or condemnation there. On the other hand, your enemies will find plenty of anger and rejection in my eye for the crimes they’ve commit against the people. One particular person is a rabid racist who rip our society to shreds by his crappy rantings. That is the biggest shame of all. Go to hell.”

Abdul ‘Afuw

100. Benameye - February 16, 2009

Dear Eli, I was so troubled by this disgusting turn of events that I had to catch myself from reckless driving many times while on my way home today. I almost feel as if this has happened to some one in my own family.
I have followed your career from your early days and know you to be honest, sincere, upright and, courageous enough to stand up for justice. You have dared to tread where others of lesser character would only waver and even turn back.
You have now entered the next realm of “Politics in Malaysia”.
Take heart Eli. What cannot destroy you can only make you stronger.

101. Joe MH Ng - February 16, 2009

Hi YB Eli,
What so special, more than half of the world population sleeps semi naked or totally naked. Just unfortunate that it had to be you this time. Be brave and do not be distracted by this incident but continue to serve your constituent diligently. Only idiots and scums would think you will be finished with this exposure. They probably had forgotten THAT was the part of their mothers’ body they came through to this world!

102. Shahrul - February 16, 2009

Dear YB Eli,

My family are members of your DUN. We are 100 percent behind you and Pakatan Rakyat. Continue your good work and dont let us down just becoz of some personal photos!

104. Sze - February 16, 2009

be strong and dont give up.

105. Michael - February 16, 2009

Dear Eli,

Be strong and courage, don’t let all those remarks from uneducated animals that ask you to resign.Ask themselves whether they are so pure and sinless, they are people who do not have love in them and behaving worst than animals. As people of our beloved country, these are people who do not contribute but giving remarks without thinking. Our former MB of Selangor who says without using his brain and home minister is one who do not shown that he is lawyer by profession and lacking of knowledge how to handle the affairs in the country. We are moving back instead forward with all these maroons around running the country.
One again do not resign, after all this your private life that no one should question and the one who did this should be arrested as soon as possible.

106. lu - February 16, 2009

Yb Eli,jgn tunduk kepala kpd politik kotor….PR mesti support u…ini mesti angkara UmNo n KHINZIR TOYO

107. Hitam.Had - February 16, 2009

Banish the thought of resigning and remember….only in bolehland …the victims, the oppressed and the under-privileged suffer whilst the perpetrators seem to escape punishment. They need you to continue to fight for their rights.

Pax.

108. yc - February 16, 2009

I wish the person who did that to you will be burnt in hell! We all Selangor people will support you. The previous BN Selangor government hope you quit, so as their corruption cases.

109. Chia Chin Yau - February 16, 2009

YB,

It is unfortunate for you being a target of someone who want to blow up the PR state government.

With such a dirty tricks to attack, after the “changing hand” of Perak, I cannot persuade myself any longer that BN should still be on our political map.

I am totally giving up hope that one day BN/UMNO will turn good when they face competition from PR.

Do trust those who have voted for you, and please be strong to face any challenges yet to come from those sons of bitches.

You are not alone, we are with you.

May the force be with you.

110. eagle - February 16, 2009

Don’t you ever quit Eli. !!! will fight for you.
Whoever the idiots, we will get even with them.
Khir Toyol anak Melayu Jawa… Ini anak Melayu Banjar akan memberi satu pengajaran kepada kamu.
So, YB Eli, stay on as you are voted by the people. You have no right to quit, lets fight them and we will fight them hard.
Your private life is all yours and you must not give up as the people in Selangor need you.
Go to hell with Khir Toyol !!! ………….

111. man - February 16, 2009

112. Collin Ng - February 16, 2009

YB Elizabeth,
I am from Singapore, I do follow Malaysia political situation and admittedly, I do know some politicians than our own in Singapore. It is certainly downright despicable for anyone to adopt such a ploy for political gain, can only invite wraths from the majority condemning such act. I totally believe this will not floor you, on the contrary, you will emerge even stronger. One vote for you from Singapore!

113. CYM - February 16, 2009

Dear YB Elizabeth,

Don’t fall into the trap set by the BN by giving up your state seat, we all still need you in the Bukit Lanjan area and even for the whole Malaysia…we will support you no matter how….

114. boon ping - February 16, 2009

Dear Elizabeth,

Before this I don’t know you, But, after this, make sure you stay strong! We will know you because you stay strong. For the stupid people who think you should resign, don’t listen to them. You can see, now the people select quality leaders, we don’t care about their personnel life. Like VP of MCA, he is elected to be VP. All the people know how to separate personnel life with political activity!

If anyone asked you to resign again, Ask them to check with the people!!

115. Edi神 - February 16, 2009

Eli dont fall…

Is not your fault… learn from it and be strong!

116. W. H Chong - February 16, 2009

Khir Toyo atau Khir Tolol? Everything about you is immoral ie up from your head to your toes. You can never be a good muslim because a good muslim is never like you. People are not blind and stupid, you bloody maggot. Even many members of the hated UMNO are sensible enough to know what a shit you are not only on Eli’s issue.
Liz, I am a 63 years old grandpa and I am telling you to be strong and not to fall into this maggot’s trap. You are not immoral. The TOLOL WAS, IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE IMMORAL. ” Nyeng arek ikue”

Be strong YB Elizabeth. Do not even think of resigning. We are all human and we do make mistakes.

118. Kedahan in Selangor - February 16, 2009

YB Elizabeth,

Life is not a bed of roses, especially when you’re a woman & public figure in the political scene. I believe your success in winning the rakyat’s trust & courage to speak up have triggered jealousy from some evil quarters.

Invading others’ privacy is an act of malice, and strongly condemned by any sane person.

Please remember that you not only get support from Selangor, but also from other states and even overseas.

May u be blessed with great strength to sail through this storm.

Kedahan

119. Gan - February 16, 2009

Please stay strong – they know they can’t buy you and your performance has been sterling, so this is the only way they hope they can break you !

122. Maria Lim - February 16, 2009

Dear Elizabeth,

I was extremely shocked that this issue has happened at this time. While the whole country is spiraling towards a recession that the government tells us will not happen here; what are those stupid people doing?

Instead of working to make life better for all Malaysians, they are resorting to cheap publicity. In addition to being stupid, they are deaf and blind as well. People (using the term loosely here) like Toyo should just shut their mouths, with every untruth they utter, they just dig a deeper hole for themselves.

HE THAT IS WITHOUT SIN AMONG YOU, LET HIM FIRST CAST A STONE AT HER!

So, sorry Khir Toyo, you are so not qualified for the job.

Stand tall and proud, Elizabeth. We are with you!

Maria

123. Lee W. L. - February 16, 2009

There is nothing about you… You have to be strong and never ever let those scums and idiots to pull you down from politics. Only idiots will take this incident to force you down.. Nothing to be ashamed of…

124. Matthew Ng - February 16, 2009

1)This is a digusting act by someone to tarnish your image and good work especially the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide.
2)It is sad for Malaysian public to know that some people used this low class tactic as a means to discredit good politician that are serving the rakyat.
3)Maybe, they have run out of good ideas to challenge the superior Oppositions.
4) Anyway, they are the laughing stocks and made a mockery of democratic process in Perak. I wonder whether they will survived the next general elections. I hope that the Opposition Front will grow in strenght and toppled the BN next. We are behind you all the way.
5) As for your recent event, just treat them as kindergarden kids. I wonder what brains they have inside anyway – barbarians at the gate

130. goldfries - February 16, 2009

Ah, title changed. 😀

Anyway Elizabeth, it’s sad to see that your private life was taken advantage of. Nevertheless, it shouldn’t have anything to do with your profession and in my opinion, not even a valid reason for anyone to for or request your resignation.

The Malaysian mentality is a strange one, people are picking on the victim instead of the person who’s doing this nonsense.

131. Orangdunia - February 16, 2009

Dear Eli,

I have always admired your struggle from afar. You’re an inspiration to many people, including me. I share your distress at the attacks on your personal and private life.

Please remain strong. My prayers are for you and I am sure that you will overcome these bad times. Remember these words: “These too shall pass.”

Even the darkest of clouds and strongest of storms will in time go away.

Eli,
You are an inspiration to so many women who had been and could easily be victims of this kind privacy instruction. We admire your bravery in the face of adversity.

Now we know that this Mohd Khir Toyo is lower than scum. Spare no thought for the opinion of people like that. They are not worth your time. It is utterly shameless to take advantage of someone else’s misfortune.

Stiffen your resolve. We need more Malaysian leaders like you. Be strong. We’ll be there behind you whenever you need us!

135. karepu samy - February 16, 2009

Dear Eli,

We are with you. Don’t give up. Khir Toyol, why you are so stupid? Chua Soi Lek admit having affairs and sexual intercouse with another lady and he resign after ulamak in cabinet (as he mention during his press conference) force him to resign. But in this case, Eli was a victim and I know you and Altantuya Boyfriend have share on this. Remember you wife have steal the association money and yet you are acting like pious. Shame on you.

Eli we stand with you and don’t give up. It;s not umno bigots going to decide your future but we, the voters who vote you.

Remember, we will teach you umno in next eelction……….

136. orange - February 16, 2009

137. vastu raman - February 16, 2009

Salam sejahtera,

Nothing wrong with sleeping in the nude or half nude.
Try bathing in your own bathroom with clothes on.
We were all born in the nude and will be buried in the nude,
reduced to bare bones, flesh rotted.

But something is not right about spreading people’s private pictures in an attempt to embarrass them. But this trick will not work anymore, times have changed. Shame on those filthy tricksters!

158. Only A Few Good Men Left - February 16, 2009

Dear Liz,

It’s been quite sometime since I last visited your blog, but I am riled by the” neo cold-war sex-spies” version of events that happened to your good-self.

Having read some of the allusion by media/blog reports, I am still wondering wherein the sensationalism of the statements uttered by you leaves rooms for possibilities – that are you at anytime willing to pose nude/or anytime in an “intimate position” willingly filmed/snapped by anyone in your due knowledge(?) as you averred in the undersaid statement from malaysiakini BM version:-
—————————-
Link/source:- http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/98352

“Saya dimaklumkan beberapa orang sedang cuba mengedarkan foto-foto atau rakaman video yang menunjukkan saya tidur dalam keadaan separuh bogel dan juga dalam posisi intim.”

———————————–

However, this sort of despicable acts must be stopped and the perpetrator/s must be brought to justice. Please e-mail me as I have reserved questions in my mind and not for public domain if you have the time, at your willing. Only you/the perpetrators knows the truth, or almost there.

159. Depressman - February 16, 2009

160. ivanyeo - February 16, 2009

So why allow them to achieve their objective? Ignore all these perverted scumbags and stay on course. U are doing a great job. Ignore the broom man, for he is a decadent to society!

161. Fiona Lee - February 16, 2009

Dear Eli,

Your work as a human rights activist and Selangor exco member has been outstanding and it is an inspiration to women like me and I am sure many others. I am outraged at the sexist malicious bullying tactics deployed against you. They are not only an offense against you, but an offense to all of us who are working towards social justice and change. We’re standing behind you. Keep on keeping on!

162. Leftenan Kolonel Noel (019-5780808) - February 16, 2009

Hi YB,

Pse take it as a challenge and test from GOD. Believe in GOD and leave it in the hands of the Almighty= HE knows BEST. There are too many unsrupulous persons out there to destroy a good person’s character and politics is indeed DIRTY. Similar attacks were done on YB Theresa Kok and GOD willing she was out of it and I’m sure you too will receive GOD’s blessings. Take care and I’ll pray for you.

163. KC Chew - February 16, 2009

I’m not from your constituency, not even Selangor. Dear YB be strong. Just brush it off and relief yourself of this mental burden. You are the Elizabeth Wong that we’ve come to admire and love. In time, my dear YB, this whole fiasco will just fade away.

Take care. Dont let Toyo sleep with you again.

166. DWKF - February 16, 2009

For you Elizabeth Wong,

Though I knew little of you not till today but I strongly believe merits come from works and dedication and not some scam photos. I do not believe that with all the works that you have done, will now slide down the hills. Yes, they can, your leaders might and some foes would want you to step down but this is no solution. I believe history tells us that those who are framed with morality issues would step down whether by own accord, coercion or instructions from above – this does not mean you have to. Well, maybe you would be forced so, but you will be elected with greater mandate when the time comes again. The leaders might want to save their face or the party, the foes might want to reduce your numbers, but the rakyat is always wise to know their “man” in their constituents and of all the good deeds you have done. As we vote base on facts and results and not based on smear campaign and political agenda

For the leaders of yours,
Should Elizabeth has any wrongdoings in her capacity and responsibility to her constituents and the states and countries, please do not hesitate to sack her.
However, if she would be sacked because of “this”, are we rationale enough?
Yes, popularity is important but what if you gain (or you might not) it with less capable and vision-minded person like Eli.
Do we really want to save the blush by a blunt sacrifice?
It might work for the time being but where goes Selangor from then onwards…to eradicate immorality or to serve the people?
As people of this nation, a Malaysian irregardless of my background, what I and most of us in Malaysia would like to see is govt who rejects corruption, grow the nation and prosperous its people…
So what harms has Eli caused? Wreck of morality amongst the youngster? Or was it a reminder on the danger of electronic gadgets…
Did it trigger of corruptions of millions of dollar? Or was it played to stop corruptions from discontinued. Pls think carefully
An assemblyman is to serve the people and not to be discarded to save our blushes…
Only is she errs to the people, if not by all means she should stand

For the people of Malaysia,
For some of you it concerns morality. Is anyone had not done or thought of doing so? Has anyone not lied and cheated? Let those who had not sinned, cast the first stone….and yes it would hit back at you…Do we persecute for the sake of justice or the prosperity of our country? Do you want someone with clear image superficially but cashed in all your money illegally? Do you want someone who is “perfect” morally in the public but was financing indecent jobs at the other hand…Pls choose wisely Malaysian…Yes, is you find Eli did do some err to the nation, please cast her out but have you not or you never find one?

For those who might gain,

Black is still black, grey is just a little bit lighter….We can still differentiate..If you were clean or to prove that you want to be clean, show it with your work and not this…

167. Enigma - February 16, 2009

They invade your privacy. Stay put.

173. Middle ground - February 17, 2009

I observe from the postings, the nation have grown and the people mature and more educated. They can easily see the RIGHTs and the WRONGs.
If this Indo migrant Toyo has to stoop so low to highlight this matter, let him. I don’t think he is smart. It will backfire on him. Calling himself a muslim, I can puke!
Any honorable man will no be concerned what a lady does in the privacy of her room. When he sayang his wife do both of them have their clothes on? By my saying that I am intruding into his privacy which I am aware. Equally, I expect a numskull like him will not take advantage of someone’s predicament. What quality of a man is he?
He is not even fit to clean my toilet!

Dearest Elizabeth,

That guy whoever he is does not deserve a brave woman like you. Looks like he is Khir Toyol’s new lover. He has done this to win over the love of the 3 class gay dentist.

Saw you serving the people in Batu Caves and would love to see you there every year. Be brave and face the storm. We are with you till the end. Best of luck.

177. 猫子 - February 17, 2009

You have the support of Malaysians who hold gratitude towards your professionalism in serving the rakyat through your position, your steadfastness in responding to the tyranny of the oppressors of rakyat, your passion in caring for the needy in Bukit Antarabangsa, and your political stand in giving hope to all Malaysians who long for a sincere and responsible politician.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

No one is bringing this up during the trials or investigation! And yet, Elizabeth Wong private picture is being used to criminalize her! Such hypocrisy and sadism of the these Umno politicians is unbelievable, and yet they keep claiming how pious they are to the kampung pakciks and makciks!!

May God give you strength in this hour of need, and just ignore the malicious Khir Toyol and his bunch of unholy associates. I was so angry to hear of him behaving like such a morally-upright person. 217. Hui - February 17, 2009

Dear Sdri Elizabeth,

This is an honest and heartfelt plea to you. Please DO NOT resign. Please stand firm on your rights and your principles. You have done nothing wrong. It is despicable how your political opponents and the mainstream media have been playing up this issue. An invasion of privacy/an act of voyeurism has been turned into a ‘sex scandal’.

You have done nothing wrong, so please don’t resign. Please don’t give in to political pressure. Think about what it will mean to other victims of voyeurism? If you resign, it will set a precedent for future cases. It will mean that all the victims will have to accept that they are criminals.

Please think about the future. Once again, stand firm and do not resign.

Sincerely,
Hui

218. Alawiyah Hj Yussof - February 17, 2009

Dear YB Eli,
I truly sympathise with you. This is such a dirty act to do to dicredit someone be it for political reason or others.

I am with you …

YB,
Please dont resign!

221. CW - February 17, 2009

dear Elizabeth,
your case and that of Perak has unearthed what people have always termed politics as – ‘dirty.’ I believe you were aware of what you were getting yourself into when you decided to join in the March 8 election. I salute your courage and your desire to stand for the people and to put things straight. It is clear that the cost is high for such roads and there will be forces to pull you down the moment you start your journey. I do believe that evil should not be fought with evil for that would leave us no where. It is good to be patient with yourself and not rush into things that you may continue with your ‘dreams’ for the people and Malaysia. I feel with you in your pain. Have courage.

222. chiew ka 4...! - February 17, 2009

Its just another battle, like the ones you have had before. So, put on your thick skin and keep on kicking…!

(in case you have noticed, the masses are really behind you on this one so don’t let us down by giving in)

Stay, the environment needs a clear, strong and uncorrupted voice.

Stay, the people of Malaysia need to know that if someone does them wrong, they don’t have to give up their dreams, retreat into silence and be defeated.

Stay for the children of Malaysia who needs to know that men and women have equal rights, minds and capabilities and that as long as they put their minds to it, they can achieve great things.

Stay and see that Malaysians are an intelligent people who knows the difference between right and wrong.

Stay and make sure that corrupted and vile individuals who require facial reconstructions to make themselves feel better don’t triumph.

Fight till your last breath comrade! You’ve been defending the rights of many voiceless malaysians, immigrants and refugees in Malaysia, and take this as your new mission, a mission to call for an end of politicization of sex and one’s private sphere.

We the Achenese people are behind you!

249. KY - February 17, 2009

Eli, please be strong. There is no moral issues here in the first place. Like you said, you are the victim. You have not done anything (not to mention wrong) … only those who “did” wrongly must take responsibility for their actions. The people who voted you say YOU MUST STAY AND GET THE BASTARDS TO JAIL! It must have been emotional and traumatizing, but stay away from the thoughts of resigning…

250. Eugene - February 17, 2009

It will be over soon as just Malysia culture.

251. cyrus Low - February 17, 2009

252. junior - February 17, 2009

Dear Elizabeth,

Consider quitting your post, ONLY if you wish to pamper the perpetrator.

It’s hard to be strong under such circumstances, but try to hold on to your faith nevertheless. May God bless you.

253. Kabir - February 17, 2009

Pls don’t resign. If you resign, I will be very angry at PKR. How can they don’t even have the ability to protect their own assembly member? How can we trust them to protect the people of this country?

I will always be your supporter.

254. Support Eli - February 17, 2009

Be strong, my friend. Ignore those who wish ill of you. Know that God moves in mysterious ways.

We believe in you. We are the ones who voted for you. We trust you.

God bless you, my friend.

There is nothing to be ashamed of about your nude body. On the contrary it fashionable to expose your body.

if u really commit adultery, then u should resign, for the sake of party.

257. hyin - February 17, 2009

I felt extremely sad that you are quiting. Please reconsider, it is not your fault. Please note that BN might not be the only one happy. There are enough vultures in PKR….

258. gnoe - February 17, 2009

It’s not your fault. Fight this and we the rakyat will support you.
Don’t give up honey, please, don’t resign.

Eli, just heard you quit.
Very sad.
You are the good.
We support you.

260. Anjing Liar - February 17, 2009

So there are semi naked pictures of you being distributed around. Big damn deal. You are making too big a deal out of it. Nobody gives two hoots about it really. You ain’t that hot to being with. So the decision to resign out of shame is playing right in to the hands of the perpetrators. You are a victim by choice and there is really nobody else to blame in this situation.

261. Tintin - February 17, 2009

I’m standing on neutral ground between the political divide,
but from a fair point of view, there’s absolutely NO-QUESTION
that you should should Stay+Fight : Not Quit!

Only that i despise some people whom, despite vying for a youth chief seat – but making a clown of himself, saying things without using his brain (if ever there was one).

When you’ve already hit the bottom – the only place to go is UP!
Please Do Not abandon all the voices of support behind you!

262. IonBuck - February 17, 2009

Do persevere! You have my support.

263. daniel chong - February 17, 2009

WHY SHOULD YOU QUIT WHEN YOU ARE INNOCENT? WHY GIVE WAY TO THE DEVIL? QUITING DOES NOT DO WELL FOR PAKATAN. IN FACT YOU DO MORE HARM TO PAKATAN AND YOURSELF WHEN YOU QUIT. BECAUSE YOU ARE TELLING YOUR FOES THAT THEY ARE CORRECT. YOU ARE TELLING YOUR FOES THAT THEY ARE STRONGER THAN YOU. SOME PEOPLE SLEEP
NAKED,WHAT’S WRONG ABOUT IT. YOU ARE ACTUALLY ENCOURAGING YOUR FOES TO COMMIT FURTHER ACTS OF BREACH OF PRIVACY WHEN YOU QUIT FOR NOT DOING WRONG INTENTIONALLY.
I SUGGEST YOU RECONSIDER YOUR POSITION NOT TO RESIGN AND MAKE A STAND FOR WHAT IS RIGHT.

264. cric75 - February 17, 2009

Eli, be strong and believe me lots of people are behind you, irregardless of political differences. We are Malaysians and we condemned those responsible..

There are many people in high positions with more scandalous acts, and they are not resigning but hanging on to their posts for dear life, why should you???????
Stay and fight them. We need people like you!!!!!

This is called REPENTANCE.
Resigning won’t solve anything. Be strong and of good courage. There is so much you can do for our country. Don’t let that idiot cow you. He is a skunk. Everybody hates him. Just ignore him.

279. nkkhoo - February 17, 2009

Have read the news on your decision to quit exco and state assembly seats.

Quit is a good decision to burden BN in a new by-election. PR will win with more majority after some pro-BN women turning to PR.

For all single women, don’t trust your boyfriend(s) and allow them taking your nude photos or videos. That is a suicidal fun. 😦

280. Flaier - February 17, 2009

Elizabeth, please do not quit. We are with you, I voted for you and am happy to see your effort fighting for the people. We love you. Do not quit please, the nation needs young selfless law-maker like you who have interest of the people.

I am the CEO of a public listed company. I ran corporations that has complex operations. I know the pressure of all these tactics by unscrupulous people. But never give up, never say die ! Let’s get the job done till the very end.

Do not support your offer to quit. It is an invasion not only on you but everybody privacy, if the same thing happen to others. Be strong and serves the rakyat as you promised to do so.

283. Kang - February 17, 2009

Very simple decision to make:

Resign from all posts if you’re ashamed of yourself that you had done something inmoral (up to you to decide on the morality issues).

Do not resign and fight to the end if you feel you had done no wrong and you’re honestly a victim to this despicable act. All right thinking people will support you all the way to ensure you deserve justice.

But if you decide to resign, it means you are guilty-conscious.

284. Internet Troll - February 17, 2009

Where can I see these pics? You’re kind of cute.

285. Msian abroad - February 17, 2009

I do not know much about your work or yourself personally. But from the little bits that I have read, it seems that you have served the rakyat well in various positions and fronts. I cannot judge you nor can any of those hypocrites who hentam you publicly, simply because no one is perfect. Malaysia still needs you. All the best in your future endeavours.

286. Nick - February 17, 2009

Dear YB,

We are behind you in these trying times. Do be strong. Please do not let such an incident force you to quit. I believe that the people have chosen you and you are only answerable to the voters. Even if you are to resign and a by-election is to be held, I hope you can stand in as a candidate. Then we are able to see what the voters have to say about this incident. 🙂 Be strong.

287. HARD HARD 1 - February 17, 2009

289. female - February 17, 2009

Dear YB,

Why must you let go your post? People are with you. You are the victim. Your house is your own private space. What you want to do, what you want wear, where and how you want to sleep is personal. You have done nothing wrong. Please stood up for it! For Malaysian! For the people of Bukit Lanjan.

290. ong - February 17, 2009

296. Kak Pui - February 17, 2009

Elizabeth,
When you were elected, I asked “Who’s this lady?”. Now after knowing you through your works and press reports, etc. I hold you in higher esteem (compared to those other scums). You have done us Selangoreans proud. Just last night we had a debate about your unfortunate photos. I asked one of those gawkers how he would be speaking if it happened to his wife, daughter or a loved one. That shut him up. Be strong and carry on; there is no shame but also no pride in this. Just Carry On.

297. Mystery Vitara - February 17, 2009

So sad. Latest news, YB Eli Wong offers to quit her post. See attached link:

http://mt.m2day.org/2008/content/view/18193/84/

A quote from the movie the Contender. See youtube link below for the clip. You have my highest regard and admiration YB Eli.

Napoleon once said, when asked to explain the lack of great statesmen in the world … that to get power … you need to display absolute pettiness… to exercise power, you need to show true greatness. Such pettiness and such greatness are rarely found in one person. I look upon the events of the past weeks… and I’ve never come so to grips with that quotation.

So ladies and gentlemen of this Congress, it pains my soul to tell you that you have brought blood and shame under this great dome. Your leadership has raised the stakes of hate to a level where we can no longer separate the demagogue from the truly inspired. And believe this, there are traitors among us. And I’m not talking about those of you who sided against your party leadership.

I’m talking about those of you who were patriots to your party, but traitors to the necessary end result, that of righteousness, the truth, the concept of making the American dream blind to gender. And you know, I am not free of blame. Right from the start I should have come down here, point a finger your way, pointed a finger your way, and asked you, Have you no decency sir?

Yesterday, I met …

Mr. Runyon… you may walk out on me, you may walk out on this body, but you cannot walk out on the will of the American people. Americans are a god people, they are a just people, Mr. Runyon… and they will forgive you, but they will not forget.

Hate and ego have no place residing in what my good friend Laine Hanson calls the chapel of democracy.

So let me make one thing clear. You come at us with what ever weapons that you have in your arsenal, but there is no weapon as powerful as that of an idea whose time has come. A woman will serve in the highest level of the Executive. Simple as that.

Yesterday, I spoke with Laine Hanson, I told her that she could decide her own destiny if she wanted to continue her fight for confirmation, that I would stand beside her. She has asked me to allow her to step aside. She told me that she wanted my administration to end on a note of triumph and not controversy. Understand those of you who worked to bring Laine Hanson down, that she asked to have her name withdrawn from consideration, not because she isn’t great, but because she isn’t petty.

Because those two conflicting leadership traits, could not live as one within her body or her soul. Greatness. It comes in many forms. Sometimes it comes in the form of sacrifice. That is the loneliest form. Now, it turns out that Laine Hanson is a woman, an American of devout principle, and she has inspired me to act alike, and I cannot accept Senator Hanson’s withdrawal.

And I’m now calling for an immediate vote of confirmation of Laine Hanson. And Mr. Speaker … I would like to make this a live roll call. I want to see the faces of those of you who would eliminate the possibility of greatness in American leadership because of half truths, lies and innuendos. I will not be deterred by partisanship, I will not be deterred by misogyny, I will not be deterred by hate. You have not come face to face with my will. Confirm my nominee, heal this nation, and let the American people explode into this new millennium, with the exhilaration of being true to the glory of this democracy.

Thank you.

298. ivanyeo - February 17, 2009

Do not allow the decadents of our Malaysian society triumph over the the good of the rakyat. Stay on there!

299. toiltebuster - February 17, 2009

300. Kak Pui - February 17, 2009

Liz,
Forgot to add: DO NOT RESIGN –There’s no need to. If the Rakyat wish to kick you out (which I doubt), this would be done at the ballot box. By NOT resigning, you heap burning coals on those scums’ brainless heads.

301. bontakun - February 17, 2009

Been reading your blog since way before the March ’08, and I kinda miss your regular updates since you were elected.

You still have my support and respect. It’ll take more than a few unscrupulous photos to change my opinion of you.

302. Muslim Woman - February 17, 2009

In this climate it’s hard to sleep with clothes, kan panas. I sleep naked too, and would vote for you just because we share the same common sense.

Hang tough. Lots of people are outraged.

303. shane - February 17, 2009

Please dont resign…. Selangor needs you.. We need you… I need you..
Almighty God, please continue to shower your abundant blessings on your humble servant, Eli, a YB tht does not want to be called a YB. Lord, please guide her actions as she goes through this time of trial and tribulations. Lord, in what ever decision she chooses, let her continue to be an instrument of Your good work on Earth and especially Malaysia. Amen

304. Malethy - February 17, 2009

Reading the Malaysian news here from Perth just gets me to the boil. You are one of the handful of malaysian politicians that have truly served the nation especially your constituency with selfless dedication.

I feel its unjust that PKR accepts your resignation. As it only condones the malicious tactics by the scum of society that this is the way to go to groom their political standings.

Whatever it is, rest assured that the Lord is with you during this time. Find strength in Jeremiah 29:11″ For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future…”

This episode only makes you stronger and more determined. Stay a fighter

305. Cheah - February 17, 2009

YB Elizabeth

I sympathize with you on your distress and anguish that the invasion of your privacy has done to you.

In the light of your supporters who have given you majority votes during the election, work together with them again by not giving up. Give them the support they have shown you then by not resigning now. By resigning – it only proves to them that they have won and have served their cause of unseating you.

Fight the fight of standing up for your rights of getting the perpetrator to justice, you have not done anything wrong. Even so, you are entitled to your sexuality, we are humans in essence and is normal that we have needs and wants.

Carry on stronger with the torch of championing.Let this be an exercise that will make you even stronger. We need more people like you to uphold and champion the right causes badly in our rotting political system. The rakyat has shown ever so much of signs of lament and yearns for change in our current openly corrupt laden ruling party, they are voicing they need you.
They have voiced this once during the election, they are voicing it again.

Our prayers go with you to continue on…

306. WK GAN - February 17, 2009

Dear Elizabeth Wong,

YOU DON’T HAVE TO RESIGN. THE RAKYAT ELECTED YOU TO REPRESENT US AND I AM ONE OF THEM. YOUR PERSONAL LIFE IS YOUR RIGHT. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR POLITICAL CAREER.
DO STAY ON AND REPRESENT US FOR THE RAKYAT VOICES.

307. Chan Chee Meng - February 17, 2009

Take care and god bless you.

Disappointed that you had decided to resign – nevertheless, the door may not have shut. God is in control & a worker of miracles.

318. Chleong - February 17, 2009

Dear YB,

I was shock when overheard this news through S’pore radio station. After understanding the whole picture of this incident, i felt shamed on this kind of behavior! What had happened to our society? What had happened on our Government?

Anyway, i hope you will stand strong! You have our supports here!!!

319. N Murugan - February 17, 2009

Eli,

You have done something very noble. Taken a punishment for a crime or offence you did not commit for the sake of PR. You are a victim and you have been victimized again by some individual or parties for their own political career advancement. The person who abused and betrayed your trust by distributing the picture and/or photo has sold his/her soul for pounds and pennies.

Be strong and most importantly, do not hide away. Stay in the limelight and continue your public, political and social work. Proof to the cowards that they can never intimidate you.

Let us the people be proud of you and the future generation of this country would remember you as a noble woman with great principles, selflessness, diligent, competence, intelligent and as a roll model.

Please accept my salute, darling.

320. YK - February 17, 2009

Dont quit! That’s the exact reaction that is wanted from you.
The truth will prevail!
Pray for your next action.

Will be kepping you in pray!
God Bless!

321. NA - February 17, 2009

Stay strong. Keep your head up. The public would like you stay on. It’s going to be tough but don’t give up this fight.

322. Sheldon - February 17, 2009

I was very sad and angry to read the report about your resignation today. I still hold out an admittedly faint hope that this can be reversed somehow. That the resignation won’t be accepted.

I fully admit that I voted for you last year mainly because I did *NOT* want to be represented by a BN rep. So anyone else would have been my pick. The fact that the alternative (i.e. you) was a savvy, intelligent activist blogger was icing on the cake.

In the months since you’ve taken office though, you have proved yourself not only competent, but willing to listen and work with the people you represent and to listen to what they need and want and try your best to get things done. We have appreciated it greatly.

And now this.

Do not let this defeat you. Do not let it defeat *US*. If there is any way the resignation can NOT be accepted, I want to know how. Who do I write to? Because this is not mere petty politics. And it has nothing to do with political parties. This is about good work no longer being done. About our plans for the places we live and by extension, our lives, being interrupted and interfered with.

Tell us how to fight for you and I assure you, we will.

323. Yan - February 17, 2009

Dear YB,

I really hope you did not offer your resignation, please don’t let them use this as a weapon to knock you down. Be strong and the people are on your side!! We support you!!

324. zackdanial - February 17, 2009

dear eli ,

I voted for you to do a good job . So far u r doing well . What has happen in your private life has noting to do with your job .

Don’t quit , be strong . Don’t let some toyo-l or java monkeys decides your future .

325. kevin - February 17, 2009

Elizabeth,

Why do you need to quit? This smear campaign will only strengthen the Rakyat s belief that your political opponents will go really low to discredit you!

Stand up and move on…DONT QUIT! what good will come of it?

326. Oh from Perak - February 17, 2009

Hi Elizabeth,

We will continue to support you…. not because you are DAP or Pakatan, but because you come out bravely to admit the identity, display courage to face the media addressing the issue, and role model professionalism to offer resign of the ADUN position.

We have not many politicians that shows professionalism in politics and willing to be open to public when there is issues/crisis at hand.

Thanks for being open and direct to the people.

WE SUPPORT EVERY HUMAN’S RIGHT TO BE NAKED!!!!!!!!!

With the exception of the following:

a) Rafidah Aziz
b) Khir Toyo
c) Azalina
d) Joan Collins

Imagine how many people would have gone blind or insane if they were pix of Rafidah instead?!!??!

328. Keeper Of The Light - February 17, 2009

listen to me, don’t ever give in to toyol and his gangs. trust me that you will regret it for the rest of your life. toyol clearly can’t differentiate the difference between getting photographed having sex and getting photographed naked while sleeping. such an arsehole.

why don’t that asshole toyol give an answer to the disappearance of the balkis fund before he talks so much crap around here~

329. MalaysianWoman - February 17, 2009

Dear Ms Wong,
From one adult woman to another, I want to let you know that there was Nothing wrong with your actions. There is nothing wrong with being naked in one’s own home, in the shower, in the bed, heck, even cooking breakfast (if I want to!). There is nothing wrong with having sexual relations, single or not. It just shows you are a healthy, normal, mature adult! There is nothing wrong with being caught naked in pics, with or without your consent. (If God wanted us to be ashame of our bodies, we will be birthed in a 3 piece suit) You have Nothing to be ashamed about! Remember that. Keep your head up high knowing that we support you and continue to have the highest respect for you in this trying times.
We condemn the people making a scandal at the expense of your dignity, we condemn the people who wants to demoralize you and we curse the vile people who think that circulating pics of a woman in her birthday suit makes for good politics, headline news or a means to achieve their end.
Whatever happens, we the women of Malaysia, stand in solidarity with you.
(We will not stand by quietly and allow the women in this country to be victimised this way. Whether it’s our child, sister, friend, neighbour, assemblywoman, Chinese, Malay, Indian, PKR, MCA, DAP … No!)
Take care & God bless.

330. Noel Silas - February 17, 2009

331. datoseri - February 17, 2009

YB Elizabeth Wong,

Stand firm on your ground. Consciencious people understands and respect one’s privacy, and that nothing immoral about one’s choosing at home. It’s one’s right. Those who violate other’s privacy are utmost immoral and must be cursed.

Please do not give up or bow to pressure from those who try to undermine the justice & rights for human.

Be strong! You have our undivided support!

332. bugisman - February 17, 2009

Dear Elizabeth,

we’re behind you. just stay strong. keep your head up.

don’t submit to this. don’t resign to this.

kambateh !

333. Lim - February 17, 2009

Don’t quit and don’t give up!!!

334. Dalai Baru - February 17, 2009

I pray that God grant you the strength to overcome this unfortunate event. It is indeed very sad that your privacy is intruded with political objective to bring you down. Be Strong. Do not reward those perpectrators by resigning.

335. chinlwu - February 17, 2009

LIZ,
DO NOT RESIGN, you have done nothing wrong. Whether sleeping or changing or going to take a shower or in the bathroom, millions of men and women appear nude everyday in the confines of their home. Everyone is entitled to our privacy in our own home or bedroom.

Millions of Malaysians know some evil low life person probably linked politically is out to bring down PR Government in Selangor, they tried to smear each of you, starting with Teresa , then Halimah, Ronnie , now you. They attack all the Excos first. Hannah Yeo or Jenice Lee could be next . Take care ladies

Liz, you must not run away from this ” SMEAR” campaign which some low life creature from BN is financing; stick with your colleague to fight this despicable campaign. The word is out , go out and do what it takes to smear you PR representative.

Take the support from your colleague, NGOs, friends and millions of Malaysian as your strength to shoulder on irrespective what happens. YOU HAVE NOT DONE ANTHING MORALLY WRONG.

336. Charlie Chia - February 17, 2009

Dear Elizabeth,

By throwing the towel, you are empowering the evil and corrupt. Stand upright for you have not done anything immoral as everyone is entitled to their private life and antics of your choice. We need you to continue the fight for us and keep the ball rolling.

337. Kamarul - February 17, 2009

Dear Eli,

Please continue, just ignore BN dirty tactics and continue to expose Khir Toyol’s illegal activities. Please stay !!!

It is not easy to fight those villains, you need to be strong and determined. Pictures are nothing compared to Khir Toyol’s misdeeds and DPM murder scandal. They are afraid of PKR, they need to destroy rakyat democracy to keep their bank account alive. BN will be doomed in the next general election. Najis will be the most shortlived PM in our history. I think he will follow his father’s footstep by creating another May 13 incident to regain the support of the Malay, what else can he do?? Now he should realised money politics are not the answer in this new era. Malay already realised BN has betrayed them for 51 years. After 51 years, UMNO still need to fight for Malays right. Malay already realised this and they voted for Pakatan this time after 51 years. Can you imagine, after 51 years we still earn so little to feed our family. Corruption will destroy our next generation.

I hope you can look at the big picture and remain as an EXCO. Another elections means more Public money will be wasted.

PLEASE STAY

338. Ah Sir - February 17, 2009

Dear Elizabeth,

” The plans of the deligent lead to profit, as surely as haste lead to poverty.” Proverbs 21:5

Therefore, do reconsider your decision to quit.

For you: Psalms Chapter 7.

339. Ah Choy - February 17, 2009

Dear YB,
Be strong and hang on. Just remember that you are an ADUN democratically elected by the people. You are tasked to serve the people who has put their faiths in you, which you have solemnly sworn to do so. Nobody has the right to stop you from doing this job that you have been tasked by the people. Don’t you dare to quit without putting up a fight. On ly the weaks will give in to the evil deeds of the bad guys, regardless of who these bad guys are. We Malaysian are not a bunch of blinds and moroons, though there is a small numbers of them around! We stillknow how to differentiate right from wrong!

340. SMY - February 17, 2009

Eli wong,
Don’t quit! This is the 21st century and no women should be subjected to this kind of treatment and then forced to quit. You have every right to do what you did in your own home. How could they compare you to those who have committed adultery, corruption and etc? PKR must now show that they are beyond hypocrisy and defend a person that has been wronged. Walk with your head held high.

341. CO78 - February 17, 2009

Dear YB Eli,

Please do not quit, for the sake of our country and its future. You are absolutely correct in saying that you have done nothing wrong. Please stay on. Please don’t let them break you — don’t give them the sense of victory. We are right behind you. Stay strong. You are and will always be our hero.

342. Khoo Gaik Cheng - February 17, 2009

Dear Eli,

A Malaysian friend just told me you’d resigned. I wish you hadn’t let this incident stop you because now they feel they have succeeded. You were a light in PKR and gave the party a credibility and balance it lacked. Without people of integrity and those who are independent thinkers like you, the party will move back into becoming a cult centering around one man. Stay strong. You did nothing wrong.

Gaik
Canberra

343. mohd - February 17, 2009

344. Jeff - February 17, 2009

Dear Eli,

I’m sorry to read about incident on you. Please stay strong and you have the support of the Rakyat. The person who has done such thing to you has obviously no moral integrity. Though you have chosen to resign in the midst of this incident, I sincerely hope that you have not given up on striving for the good cause of the Rakyat. Malaysia needs capable politician like you to strive for further economic development. Please stay strong and my prayers are with you.

345. art - February 17, 2009

Hi YB Elizabeth,

This is the precise reason why so many of our best and brightest are leaving the country. The people (like yourself) who do good work are being treated worse than scum, and it is shameful.

I do hope you stick to your guns and not resign, as you can tell, you have plenty who’d stand behind you.

It’s sad how our beautiful country is going to the dogs… literally 😦

Best regards from a Sarawakian in KL

346. Justin Choo - February 17, 2009

YB Elizabeth Wong,

You have my support. Nothing wrong or ashamed to sleep naked in private. These evil people will be crushed come next GE; but in the meantime the by-elections will send the warning message first.

347. Anak Selangor - February 17, 2009

Dear Eli,

I’m so sorry to hear what had happened to you. I emphatize and sympathise with you. Not only is you life given to the public due to your role as a exco and ADUN, but now they invaded your private life too.
I totally disagree with what Kir Toyo had mentioned. It is a totally 2 different scenario. One is caught in adultery as he is a married man. In your yr case, it was taken withour yr knowledge in your own bedroom. You did not pose for those photos. You are still single.
This is an outright case of blackmailing to the lowest level. It involve the privacy of a person. Whoever have done this does not have any concious at all. Let God be a judge to all this.
I have seen the good and hardworking job that you have done since Mac’08. It’s not like the previous govt that do nothing and makan gaji buta.
I hope that you will consider your desicion to resign. You know many are supporting you!!

350. Yeap Mei Yi - February 17, 2009

YB Eli,

I am strongly and firmly behind you. I admire and respect you for the strength, dignity and courage that you have shown in the face of this despicable attempt to undermine you. But your reputation will not be tarnished in this episode. You are right that u have done absolutely nothing wrong. I understand your decision to leave your posts but I must admit that I do not support it. Please stay. Malaysian politics need a person with your integrity and calibre. Do not let those who seek your downfall win.

It is their dirty tactic to sink PKR/PR, by hook or crook.

BN will be toppled in the coming by-elections.

Remember to recover and come back soon as the rakyat need caliber people like yourself to lead the country thru darkest hour. We want to see EVIL to be destroyed. God says so over and over again in the Bible as I read it last night.

God bless you sis!

Hi Eli,
I’m 100% agree with MalaysianWomen (321) comment.

You are what you are. Toyo’ls is nobody in this state now but you are. Get you head up and go foward to serve those who need you most. Being what you are today is not to listen who intend to condem you and your life but to serve the people and the country with “Honesty”, “Integrity” and “Transperant”.

We will support you all the way and will fight for the rakyat right.

Please dun resign! If U do, then U r allowing urself 2 admit ‘defeat’ n say yes to all those accusations! That’s the whole idea, to ‘force’ U to resign by using d fiery ploy of ‘female sexuality’!

U resign now, the whole show is over, u feeling small n they walk away laughing n standing tall!!

U hv done a good job so far, r U so easily ‘flattened’ by ur enemies?

Listen to ur heart, what U do is ur own ‘private intimacy’ – who doesn’t hv any?? R U going to be let down by just this incident? Tell urself, so what? There’s nothing 2 b ashamed of. Feel proud that U r still beautiful n hv beautiful curves to show off. Confront it n move on, it will pass as time goes by. People will 4get!

Look at d positive side – who knows this extra publicity may come as a blessing in disguise later on in ur fight against injustice?

U hv gone this far, stand up and look at d chess board again! Observe n stay focus with a strong mind n not with emotions! Find out what’s the next best moves and strategies!

This is a challenging period to play ur cards well BUT NOT TO RESIGN!

Believe in urself as faith brings strength n courage! When U believe, everything is possible!

TO RESIGN NOW MEANS YOU ‘KOWTOW’ N SAY YES TO UR ENEMY’S DIRTY TRICKS!

PERSEVERE, PERSEVERE, N PERSEVERE!!!

I BELIEVE IN U, I KNOW U CAN WEATHER THE STORM, U R A STRONG WOMAN ALL THESE WHILE!

God Bless You!!!

PKR YB ANWAR & Datin AZIZAH,

PKR MUST NOT ACCEPT ELI’S RESIGNATION. A person like ELI is difficult to comeby. Millions of decent Malaysian are of the opinion , ELI HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING MORALLY WRONG. PKR must not be weak, to yield to BN pressure about morality. The goons in BN controlled media and politicians cannot differentiate morality and ” INVASION OF PRIVACY”

ELI has put the party PKR before herself. She herself has also said ” I HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG” She is such a SELFLESS person.

Datuk and Datin, you must show your unyielding support and unceasing love for ELI. You have to listen to the people who voted and support her.

90 % of Malaysians all over want to see her fight this despicable ” SMEAR ”
campaign against PR Government in Selangor.

Orgainise a dinner for ELI, let it be the biggest dinner ever given in honour of a ADUN, tens of thousands will show up.Once for all squash the low life creature like toyol.

362. masnora - February 17, 2009

I’m a Muslim girl and I totally support you!! You have done nothing wrong… please please please don’t resign. I heard about your resignation and I feel so frustrated.

Before you joined the Selangor government, nobody cared much about the environment… it wasn’t top priority… and then you came along; you have done a good job.

For me, what happened is no big deal. But you resigning would be a big deal for me. It seems that being women in Malaysia, you can’t be too smart or too successful or too popular. Men will still reduce you to sex objects. What do we tell our daughters and sons? That it’s okay to use humiliation to bring down others?

Please, YB Wong, please don’t resign.

There are times when life seem hard, but you have done no wrong.
Since when is it that politicians cannot have sex or a boy friend or even both?
Do not tell us that politicians cannot have the right to love or sex, you are still single, therefore is not an act of shame to have your life as you wish.

This is a crime against you, your private life has been put to the test, but you must prevail!
Stay!! We would like you to, do not bend to the BN/UMNO shits!

369. Anthony Bird - February 17, 2009

Hello Eli.
It is a sad.sad, day for Malaysia that you have decided to resign your positions although I can understand and sympathise with your reasons. That an able, honest ,and may I say innocent, politician is forced into this position reflects badly on the standard and quality of politics in Malaysia.
The electorate that gave you a mandate to speak and represent them are the real losers in this fiasco – be assured that if you do seek to return your people will show overwhelmingly just how much support and respect you have.
I would ask that the persons who commited this underhanded, despicable, act look to their own consciences and, when the day comes that we all must face, seek to explain their actions to God.

370. FuckBN - February 17, 2009

Elizabeth Wong, i’ve just read that you have offered to resign. please reconsider ur decision to resign from any of your posts, as you did no wrong. It’s that son of a HeeYitFoong who malicously distributed the pics. What you should have done is to expose that SOB’s name and let us “take good care of him”. don’t listen to SOBs and Beyotches such as lesbianlina, botoxed toyol, shit ham-mid, or fatfidah…they are just doing what their C4 expect them to do. who the fork give a fork abt those imbeciles from babi najis anyway. and to those babi najis troopers (Emond, Pelopordunia, Anjing Liar, Internet Troll), fork off. the world is a better place without u and ur owners.

372. Mike - February 17, 2009

Hi Elizabeth, even though you did nothing wrong, it’s understandable that this incident is causing you deep distress and grief. Although I am not from your constituency, I have read of your great track record. Your contributions human rights and environmental protection issues have been nothing short of exemplary. Please do not despair as time will heal anything. Take a long break, then think again when the cloud has cleared. I think your constituents still depend on you and will continue to give you their full support. If members from the opposition had very positive and supportive comments on you, that says a lot about your personality. Yeah, some culprits may bring up this issue again and again, but I think you’re stronger than that. Do not let this bother you now and in the future. What has happened has happened and you can’t turn back the clock. What’s more important is what you think about yourself, not what others think about you. You’re an amazing woman, you make Malaysians proud to have you among them. I certainly am proud to know that you are Malaysian!

PS. If I’m not married yet, I will definitely try to date you.

373. Supporter - February 17, 2009

DON’T QUIT. If you do so without a fight, the enemy will continue to use their dirty tactics to invade the political scene in Malaysia.

Stay strong. Fight them. Give them a hard time.
You know the people care. You know you have the rakyat’s support. This is what it matters most.

The 3 frogs in Perak are far more shameful. 2 of them are are being investigated for corruption. The remaining one is hated by her own constituents for her treachery. None of them have even thought about resigning, never mind offering to.

You have done nothing wrong. Why must one of the best and most hardworking excos we ever had resign her post?

378. sean - February 17, 2009

DEAR YB Elizaberth Wong,

I am so sorry to heard the news! I could understand how you feel at the moment. Any how, I would like to reconsider your resignation decision just now. We “RAKYAT MALAYSIA” need you, not only resident of selangor or yr DUN seat. Pakatan Rakyat has enough of “BAD NEWS”, first 206 of Perak, next is the lost of YB Roslan (PAS) and resignation of ADUN Kedah. Now it is yr case, we RAKYAT have enough of this DIRTY POLITIC. We must “STAND UP AND FIGHT BACK”!

I just want you to remember one thing: YOU ARE NOT ALONE, WE WILL BE ALWAYS BESIDE YOU!! Anyway, what ever your final decision, I will respect it! All the best!

382. Netty - February 17, 2009

Dear YB,

I truly sympathies with what has happened and I am convinced that some dirty politician in the Opposition is extremely desperate to take over Selangor from PR. We all know who this guy would be and I can say that he is a sour looser unable to face reality.
Scums like this need to be flogged in public and put behind bars.
I am sorry if my words seem too strong here but I am totally disgusted with this kind of underhanded politicians who will find whatever ways and means to put a person down.
My opinion, which I am sure is also the opinion of most people is that you pray and reconsider your decision for the very reason you were elected, ie, to serve the Rakyat which I must say, so far you have done an excellent job.
You have my personal support and best of all, you will be on our prayer list for God to give you wisdom to move on. Remember, at the end times, there will be many trials and tribulation but if we can stand firm on God’s promise, He will make a way for us.
May you be blessed. Shalom….

Instead, we should focus our energy in tracking down the paparazzi…
and chop his dick off…

384. joe - February 17, 2009

Dear Eli,

I would like to correct my previous comment and add some.

1. Im not a strong supporter for the current government but was a hardcore supporter on previous leadership. I voted for opposition cause i dont like the current government not because i like opposition. Of course ill vote for government party once the boss step down. (dont hate me for it, remember we are democracy, k)

2. Ignore those UMNO or BN politicians, if they use the naked picture tactic to bring u down, it means they dont have vision, idea or proper political strategy. Thats the main reason they lost Selangor-NO VISION!! By resigning u make them look smart.

3. Please be responsible and focus on what have happened u. Punish the person that took that picture and the people that distributes it instead on distracting people by accusing your competitor is conspiring against u. We are smart too. Only thing Khir is doing is a low blow tactic thats all. And most of us fence voters are watching.

4. Start a campaign or something that can stop this voyeour dispicable act. Protect ur future “sisterhood” against this act. Stop it before it become a normal everyday thing. Imagine if all malaysian handphones have private pictures and videos of their gf and wives, imagine if the bf lost the phone and someone u dont know found it? Imagine if your husband or bf betrays u by posting these private pictures on the net for money, fun or blackmail?

5. Get a time-off instead of resigning in order for u to get ur bearing back.

6. Dont be a wuss by resigning, show them what malaysian women are made of.

385. klmc - February 17, 2009

Listen to the people around you, to your supporters. Ask yourself. Is this the right thing to do? To step down when the going gets tough? Have you done anything wrong? If not, then why step down? You are not doing us the rakyat a favour by stepping down. Are you too embarassed to carry on? Is that why? Is this the time to give in? Ask yourself and answer honestly to yourself. Why are you stepping down? Only you yourself know the answer to that. No offence but by stepping down, I think it’s a cowardly act.

This is the new age. For all we know you’ve been a target of an insider trying to get pity for PKR.

People who are real victims wouldn’t be baawing that it’s an oppositional work. I felt bad and supported you. But now that you try and use politics as a motive like this, you’ve lost my support. You can rot with your PKR fantards and chase out all your other partied supporters.

Hi Ms Wong,

I’m writing to you from Egypt where I am currently at. I follow news at home via online news portals and blogs whilst I’m away.

I am saddened by what has been done to you these past few days.

For me as an ordinary citizen of Malaysia, feel that you should leave it to your constituents to decide on whether you should step down or continue fighting the cause thus far. After all they were the one that put you in the position as the people’s representative.

There’s nothing stronger than the will of the people and our voices are getting stronger everyday.

I am sorry on your recent turn of events.. but hang in there, bite the bullet and fight it through! As far as I am concerned- you’ve done nothing wrong by being caught in a disadvantaged position in your personal sphere, and the perpetrator is committing a crime by invading your privacy.
What I do know is, if you give up on your political positions, your beliefs, life philosophy and standing, then it just tantamount to you admitting defeat to the bad guy. And what you’ve fought so hard for is lost.
I have already given up on equating politicians to ‘leaders’. Not much of a surprise considering Malaysia’s state of affairs and mentality after 50 years of ‘independence’. And it is people like you whom we have put our hope on… perhaps a glimmer of hope of proving me and the nation wrong..

393. bell - February 17, 2009

We will always by your side
you have to be strong ,dun let those “people” harm u again.

Dear Ms Wong

Yes, it is indeed a challenging time for you. That’s the test…and what’s more important is how you respond to the test. Not by running away !!

Tough time don’t last, tough people do. I pray that you will find the inner strength to carry on your good work. Giving up would mean victory to them. Please reconsider.

398. Porak-Toyol - February 17, 2009

399. azhar - February 17, 2009

Ms. Wong,

You are a victim of a someone’s crime. Why must you resign?

Ini tak betul!!

400. dexter mah - February 17, 2009

Elizabeth. My first time meeting you was in Sydney in 1992. Even back then, you had this sense of righteousness and you were respected by many of the university students for that. I am truly glad and proud that you have never wavered and you have continued with your passion for helping those in need.

You are a strong person and I am supremely confident that you will weather this trying time created by malicious minded, irresponsible, selfish fools who one day will face the own consequences of their own actions. You transcend race and gender with your virtues and a couple of photos will not change that fact or your values or your morality for that matter. Do not let begrudged and narrow minded imbeciles influence you. Everyone is solidly behind you. The comments posted here are a testament to that. Do not be embarrassed. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. Do not fear as you have done nothing wrong. Stand tall. You are above this. I know for a fact you are.

This is never about morality or a question of your exemplary leadership but a lame attempt by someone desperate for fame or money trying every despicable means to topple you. They will never succeed as the people know and will never condone to such irresponsible and cowardly acts of that individual/s.

To the person/s responsible for this, you have just earned yourself a life time of sins. Unforgivable sins. May you and your family, and all future generations ( I do sincerely hope you will never have any) pay dearly for your karmic sins. It is time you started thinking of repentence for you will one day be answerable for this. But then, judging from your actions, you may be too thick and stupid to even know where to start looking up that word or understand all this.

YB Elizabeth Wong, I urge you to reconsider your decision to resign. It does not good and the people too, will now become victims.

401. why key? - February 17, 2009

403. snap hypocrite - February 17, 2009

Dearest Great Woman YB Elizaberth Wong
you are a winner! – those or the one person involved in enjoying taking nude pic(s) in a private home without consent reveal(s) hyprocritical moral talks for reason(s) only one(s) know. But one/those who enjoy circulating such pic(s) or ever mentioning of intention to circulate hold(s) equal responsibility on intrusion to privacy…
You deserve to claim any implications of ‘defamation’. – for tricks revealing the degrading of mankind’s dignity.
yes, if those private pic(s) ‘caught’ in taman kanak-kanak (children play ground), then the snapper(?) [sorry, this blog has no language decency check] may intend to write a fiction worth less than 1 cent.

404. boblim - February 17, 2009

Dear Eli

Remember these words???

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an’ pretend
’cause I’ve heard it all before
And I’ve been down there on the floor
No one’s ever gonna keep me down again

Oh yes I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
’cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
’cause you’ve deepened the conviction in my soul

I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin’ arms across the land
But I’m still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand

Oh yes I am wise
But it’s wisdom born of pain
Yes, I’ve paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong

I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman

405. snap hypocrite - February 17, 2009

Dear YB Elizaberth Wong
you are a winner – the one(s) enjoy taking or circulation very private pic(s) taken from your home or intent to circulate it/them in any media deserve to pay huge and hefty sum of compensation for lost of human dignity – more than a job of elected rakyat representative. it is alarming and mind boggling on such degrading of mankind’s consciousness for reason(s) known or unknown. If the photo snapped at ‘taman kanak2’ (children’s playground), then the fiction book is worth less than one cent worth.

406. rcslim - February 17, 2009

Dear Eli

Most of my life I have adhered to the following words …. okay it’s originally meant for a son .. 😉

I hope you will find the same comfort, guidance and courage as I have found over the years when reading these precious words.

Without knowing the full circumstances, I can only say that we cannot afford to lose leaders / politicians like you who represent truth, honesty and integrity.

The people of Bukit Lanjan has put their trust in you hence I hope you do not disappoint them You also carry the hopes of the entire state as well as the nation and its Rakyat who wish for a better future.

To resign is to admit defeat to the dark forces …

peace be with you
rcslim

A Father Prayer by General Douglas MacArthur (May 1952)

Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.

Build me a son whose wishbone will not be where his backbone should be; a son who will know Thee ?and that to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge.

Lead him I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort, but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge. Here let him learn to stand up in the storm; here let him learn compassion for those who fail.

Build me a son whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high; a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men; one who will learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep; one who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past.

And after all these things are his, add, I pray, enough of a sense of humor, so that he may always be serious, yet never take himself too seriously. Give him humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength.

Then, I, his father, will dare to whisper, have not lived in vain.

407. dee - February 17, 2009

I honestly dun think you should resign simply because if this is a tactic by BN, then it would be proven as a successful tactic. Meaning, either PKR or BN can easily use this to force someone to resign. This must not be a precedent for any future tactics by both parties. We all get naked once or twice a day. Its inevitable unless you bathe with your cloths on. Does this mean, any pictures taken illegally be it sleeping, showering, etc can be a reason to force any MPs to resign? You must stand on your own to fight this for the sake of all the people.

408. edwin chow - February 17, 2009

EW,

Why must you resign?
Remember that you are the victim !

Come on..

I know it is a difficult time for you.

You would have lost the game by resigning.

And Evil will prevail…

Resignation shouldn’t even be in your vocabulary.

409. Putra - February 18, 2009

Be strong. This is an act of an idiot/culprit/criminal to dismay your career as YB.But be professional and do not pointing finger to BN agenda or whatever you or others may say.You still have the supports & respects!

410. Li Li - February 18, 2009

Dear YB Elizabeth,

You have strong commitments to your job and it is total outrage that evil forces uses dirty tactics to get you down.

We need more people who are hard working like you and full of drive in the government to overcome a bigger serious threat of global economic crisis. No women can take it when their privacy are invaded. Personally, it is not wrong to sleep naked in your own house.

We should go after the culprit who took the photos.

We pray that you will be strong at this difficult moment. We hope that you do not resign and fight for our rights.

411. Adrian - February 18, 2009

Your integrity remains unscathed. It is a case of blaming the victim instead of the perpetrator. Keep your head up. In Europe, and probably many other regions, the people are only offended by the crime commited against you and not by any adult choices you have made.

412. pshim - February 18, 2009

414. Frederico Lopo - February 18, 2009

Dear Miss Wong,

I am not Malayan. I am fom Portugal, so politically speaking I am not directly impacted.Yet the news of what is happening to you have felt close to home, since you represent a certain quality and class of politician and person.
I am saddened by watching yet another insidious ‘character assasssination’ on a person’s public image, especially one playing with and attacking a woman’s intimacy and privacy, which is absolutely sacred .But I find it comforting that you have led this whole affair in such a dignified way, and that there are people like you.
I would like to point that a resignation perhaps isn’t the best course of action , as it is an admission of guilt, shame, defeat, and giving in to your enemies’ attempt to dirty your image, but that is entirely up to you and your direct political supporters.
I can now imagine that you feel disarmed and disempowered against this kind of people, and as Machiavelli put it:
“And many writers have imagined for themselves republics and principalities that have never been seen or known to exist in reality; for there is such a gap between how one lives and how one ought to live that anyone who abandons what is done for what ought to be done learns his ruin rather than his preservation: for a man who wishes to profess goodness at all times will come to ruin among so many who are not good.”
But, like I pointed, you have your dignity and integrity, which you haven’t lost at any time during this difficult moment, and which empower you.

Even though you may be outnumbered by people ‘who are not good’ and who want to destroy you politically, there are the hundreds of good people that have already expressed their support, respect and admiration for you, and I would like to add my comment to theirs, and wish you well.
Best regards
Frederico Lopo

415. kw - February 18, 2009

This incident tells us a lesson, as usual, politic is dirty; whether you wear BN’s hat or Keadilan’s hat. This story has a sad ending for you. For everyone else, I hope this incident will provide a lesson to all of us — politic is dirty and politicians are as trustworthy as a car sales person, if not worse.

Please do not get me wrong, I totally agree that your privacy is intruded in this case.

416. Bigjoe - February 18, 2009

There is a larger issue involved here which is the morale and faith of suppoters of PR and particularly PKR. Backing off from a fight is not noble, its also NOT going the extra mile. When things get tough, the tough gets going, not quit.

The decision to quit is NOT solely yours. I would say its not even up to you to offer it publicly – you can only offer it in private to the leaders of PR and your colleageau. They have to support you and if they do, its up to you to fight it, go against the odds.

Otherwise, we may as well forget about everything and including a real reformed future for this country…

417. lextcs - February 18, 2009

well…most of these guys here dont want you to resign…of course talking is cheap…it aint their bodies that is exposed…further more it has exposed your ‘breaking’ of christian moral teachings such as sex before marriage….continue service in public limelight would bring more bad than good…i suggest going back to NGOs would be a better option….finally one decent message for those who insists on eliza to stay….dont even dare want to see how those nude pics looks like.

418. chiew ka 4...! - February 18, 2009

Liz…,
If you have to quit, many hearts will be broken.

Malaysia is well known for its ‘sleazyness’ worlwide..! BN & goons are going all out to destroy PKR.
All these “dramas” are created by BN & it has never been that happening before…!

Ever since PKR won certain states, BN went into “overdrive”…..!!!
Am I right..!

Liz…, please follow up with the police report. Who’s the photographer???
If its their own people, they are sure gonna try to cover-up & find a stupid scapegoat…………………!
We are very high tech now & I’m sure the culprit can be caught…!
Push the lazy bums for it…!

Somehow ……… if we all think about it……….:

BN is doing all the wrong things at the right time……………….!!!!!!!!!
Hooray 4 BN !!!

They are soooo……. desperate, they’ve gone sooo……. low.
Almost reaching HELL…!

I wonder why they even bother to go & pray…!
That’s NOT the way of Muslim life….!

Anyway other races also going to HELL….! But they still go & pray…!
What’s in our hearts is what others don’t know…!

Eli,

You and politicians like you are the reason I have been seriously trying decide to return to Malsysia becuase you and the like of you are just like gusts of fresh air that blows through the longkong politics that has been dragging the country towards hell.

You still have a very bright future in helping us Malaysians who have been so inspired by your integrity and talents to make this a country we want to come back to.

I am a psychoanalyst who has been working in Asia as well as the west for the past 12 years, so I know what I am talking about. Don’t give up! It is those scums and the stunted ones who should be condemned. Not you. And here is to those IDIOTS AND HYPOCRITES, who condemn you for those pix..GROW UP, YOUR DRAWFS!!Nude pix, so what! Be proud of yourself! When the issue came up in a recent gathering, all my friends laughed at those who smeared you and commented about the immaturity of the Malaysians. Relunctantly, I agreed that many of us Malaysians have to grow up and grow up fast if we want to be respected.

I am among the long list of Malaysians and some non-Malaysians over here who are rooting for you. This too will blow over. Just hang in there. We love you and we want you to stay and continue to do good work!

420. Johorean - February 18, 2009

423. daniel chong - February 18, 2009

FUCK BN:Quiting does not make you and the party any good but actually you are encouraging more future evil acts of this kind. No need to be over-emotional about this episode.Take a short break and then think
rationally about your move of quitting. When you quit for something that you did not commit, aren’t you giving way to your foe? Why you should punish yourself for not doing anything wrong whereas your foe escaped unhurt. Isn’t unwise for you to make such an irrational decision under stress. As for Dr Chuah, he had to quit because he had actually committed adultery but you did no. By you quitting you have acknowledged that you have committed a wrong.
Think, think, think and think first. It does not mean that when you quit your photos will stop circulated around. It could be an empty threat from the Kill toyo,do you see it?

Hi YB Elisabeth,

I’m a Perakian, working in S’pore. I’m a strong supporter for PR and is aware of BN desperate attempt to destabilise PR states now.

I am proud of ur press statements that you maintain your innocence strongly, but I’m quite saddened that you decided to quit. You have done no wrong and you’re a vicim..tat’s for sure. The question of morality (whatever that may have happened in the room) is not for us to judge, my God taught us not to judge for we shall be judged too.

Though it may be of the interest of PKR to avoid further political play but it really does no good to your own image as resigning gives the impression that u’re guilty of something. Moreover, it will give Khir “Toyol” and gang the ammunition to say that look..PKR is full of problematic or immoral politicians. Pls..in order to truly maintain your and PKR’s innocence and honour, you must stay on and fight with them! If police is handling this case professionally and strictly, we shall not worry about Umno/BN trying to further sensationalise this issue and degrade PKR or S’gor govn.

I am not a Selangorian nor your constituency. But I can tell you’re a very good people’s representative and Exco..judging from what you were doing during the B.Antarabangsa incident. Be strong and stay on course, lady! All S’gorians and Malaysians are behind you…

I sincerely believe you can walk into almost any home and you will be warmly embraced as a sister or a daughter.

This incident only enhances your stature & do not for a moment think otherwise.

So walk tall as you have the love & understanding of so many.

Do not resign.

Continue with your good work & together we all will make Malaysia a better place.

The Perak Sultan decision to sack MB Nizar was a cold-blooded act and without any grounds for doing so. In fact the defections are immoral, illegal and a betrayal of electors’ trust. The Sultan’s rash decision was really an irony and being a former lawyer and popular judge he was expected to stand up for the rights of the rakyat. As a former judge he should know that the Supreme Court decisions were flawed on the freedom to diassociate and associate. Certainly, the earlier High Court decisions on the right to disassociate and associate were flawed. During interpretation of this Article on freedom to associate and disassociate , the Court did not take into consideration the wish of the electors who elected their representative in their respective
constituents. Electors’wish is most sacred in Parliamentary democracy. Thus the iSupreme Court decisions were lopsided and shortsighted. The court was wrong when the judges used the literal approach to interprete this Article. Had the judge used the golden rule such decisions would not have been arrived.

For example in the case of Re Sigsworth (1935) it concerned a case where a son had murdered his mother. The mother had not made a will and under the Administer Of Justice Act 1925 her estate would be inherited by her next of kin ie her son. There was no ambiguity in the Act, but the court was not prepared to let the son who had murdered his mother benefit from his crime. It was held that the literal rule should not apply and that the golden rule should apply to prevent the repugnant situation of the son inheriting. In applying this decision the earlier Malaysian High Court decisions had erred. The judges then did not interprete the Article in our Federal Constitution using the golden rule of interpretation, or the mischief rule or the purposive rule. Certainly it was not the drafter’s intention to recognise party hopping and defections if the judges had looked behind those words of the Federal Constitution. If judges in UK had used literal approach and interpreted the ADJ Act 1925 many wealthy people would have been murdered for the love of money.

As an elected representative they have no right to disassociate themselves from the party under which they have been elected. They have a right to disassociate themselves from any political party and associate with a new party when they are not elected representatives. Once they are elected they are permanently bound to the party whether they like it or not. The political party and their elected position are now fused.
Hence, they cannot choose to have the elected position and discard the political party.
Most importantly, they are elected on the party ticket which they should quit both positions ie the elected position and the party as well if they are not happy.
They should relinquish their post and call for fresh election. Otherwise what is the point of having voting right that cannot be used to elect someone of my favour. My point of contention is that my right as an elector to choose the party to represent me has been actually taken away by the Court’s earlier decisions that recognise party-hopping. The decisions have actually doomed Parliamentary democracy in this country. It has made Malaysia’s democracy without accountability and responsibility. Democracy does not mean lawlessness and irresponsibility. It respects good human values and it is an honourable practice.
Unless and until the Parliament overrules the earlier High Court decisions, parliamentary democracy in Malaysia will certainly undergo a very bleak future. It is surely and gradually heading towards an anarchy where laws are no longer observed.
What is the point of voting someone of my choice when that representative from the respective party which I favour can anytime switch to another camp which is not to my favour. The government of the day might as well do away Parliamentary democracy and place someone into the government as and when they like. Why should the rakyat go through the hassle of voting and the government spend taxpayers’ money to organize a general election. And if elected representatives can be bought over easily then our voting rights have definitely and subtlely been taken away. And this is a serious breach of democracy. And if so what is the government going to do about it. Hence as a decent law abiding rakyat I do not recognise the new Perak state

BN government. They do not deserve respect from the rakyat as an illegal government.
Are they going to see our voting rights erode away? They may have the intention unconsciously. Well this is food for thought for everyone.

To all of u guys who have commented.

1. The target is not her. It is her boyfriend.

2. They turned her into a hero, publish her biodata to make her look like St.Mary. They give concerns. They rise about the issue regarding privacy, womens right bla bla.

3. They make her look like a victimised “St.Mary” who needs justice. There are public outcry that shes done nothing wrong, the culprits need to be punished.

4. The public are mad, especially women. Their beloved chosen leader were victimised. Now its time for justice and moral which have been PKR fighting for all this while.

5. Ex-boyfriend pops in the picture. People are mad at him, he needs to be punished. Then his true background revealed…..a PKR man….Then the real fun begins.

6. I’m impressed. “A Sick Voyeur PKR ex-boyfriend who violate the trust of his women”. Hmm useful campaign material.

7. Hope these guys, cut her some slack and leave her alone. Which they will. But the offensive will begin on the bf which is an ex-“PKR” guy…The PKR name will be tagged to this guy for a long time….

8. So many speculations….

I would like to reply to Mr Daniel comments.

1. I respect your knowledge about law. And i noticed u mentioned ur a graduate from London. Solid.

2. But im going to give u food for thought in terms of reality. No intention to pick a fight.

3. Buy a ticket with a destination to “real world”. U will notice one thing, nice guys always finish last. Thats the law and thats the rule.

4. Do u think, that the self proclaimed perfect democracy in US was established by playing nice? People like Martin Luther, JFK and others got bullets in their heads, what happened to their socialist party? They strangely went missing. Nowadays, no lobby money or fund raising money, u will guarantee to lose. What is lobby money? its legalised version of bribery my friend. And those lobby money is not free, u got to give something back in return if u won.

5. Lets get back to Malaysia. Ill start with chronology of events.

6. PKR boss DSAI mentioned about Sabahan MP’s want to abandonship and join PKR. PKR will be the rightful ruler after that.

7. Do u think DSAI is dumb about the law? He knew about the loophole, so he said it publicly. That means it can work. And Karpal Singh the master of law doesnt open his mouth abt it, so it means he agreed.

8. PKR campaigned about the corruption, i love it, i vote for opposition. Considered the men and women of PKR is the knights of shining armor in a mission to rescue Malaysia.

9. Just a few months after “rescue” Perak, 2 of the PKR guys were suspected involved in a bribery scandal and plus plus.

10. And now, they betrayed PKR and become independent. They choose to fly solo and ending up tilted the position. And the Bota guy once jumped party for a week and strangely PKR seems happy, but not that happy on the next week. Karpal fumed and asked DSAI bertaubat. What the hell is happening?

11. Strangely Sultan Perak are cool with it. Bare in mind this Sultan, we cant underestimate, he is “someone” in the law business, he might be smarter than u. Luckily he choose to play it cool and dont say anything in the media. If he ending up say something smart, it will make PKR look like a fool.

12. Thats the reality bro, its not about the law or rights in Perak, its a bloody circus. It is very wise if PKR choose to cut the losses and move on. Remember its only 3 seats. PKR still own half of the state.

13. I dunno if everyone know this, Politics is a business of perception. So instead getting entangled with BN with this circus. PKR guys need to be in the driving seat and shift to second gear. Just like the Kedah MB, he just move on and by now he is in 3rd gear, hes been ignoring BN crap for all this while. Normal guys everyday life is at a pause, businesses are not moving with this circus. These are normal guys that are not interested with this circus, they just want to move on and make a living. When they lives stalled, they going to get angry and they might blame it all on PKR. Im talking about the normal guys, not the hardcore PKR supporter like u guys.

14. So the reality is, whatever DSAI preached before have fallen on his own nose, whatever the acquisation is. And thats a fact.

15. Perak have become one big circus, grown up doesnt like circus only kids…

16. So its a fact, they are some “mud” on the shining armor. Just clean it up abit and move on.

17. Nice guys always finish last in this real world. So instead of opening up the book of law and justice, start opening up the book of life. U will learn something. So “scheming and low blow tactics” should be part of the game plan nowadays.

18. So calm down and be positive, dont be angry. Angry guys always make mistakes and ending up in regret. Learn from Nik Aziz, he is cool as ice. No wonder he is Kelantan MB for life. So instead of feeding Miss Eliza with angry and negative comments about BN, give her some new workable positive ideas so she can crack her head with.

19. PKR might lost the battle this time, but PKR dont lose the war yet. Move on and get the bearing back. Maintain position on whats left. In a bright side point of view, it lesser the burden of PKR, so can give more special attention to Selangor, Kedah, Penang and Kelantan, so no need to stretch more resources and can focus win more hearts.

20. My best advice is stop talking about changes and bla bla, shelve the changes 1st. Just do what BN have done for the last 50 years but cleaner. Focus on the job meant for the elected ppl. When time for change arrive, change la.

21. As for eliz, she should take some break and get some foot massage cause shes been running around police station, press and all our mind for last 2 weeks. Come back then do your work. Work on cleaning our rivers, address the issue of global warming and stuff need to be done. Increase confidence on Selangor consumers on spending or whatever so businesses starts rolling. I think miss eliza is “man” enough for the job.

22. Dont worry on the issues that hit u, everyone from both side know u being played out. All newspaper said that. U r the “St Mary” now. The only pants they going to pull is your ex boy (is he still x?) not yours.

23. And finally date a guy, who dont have camera function on their phone or a guy who likes to play around with camera. Make sure all digital camera or phones are left in the living room. I dont mean to sound rude but thats the best insurance nowadays.

24. BN is regrouping, they managed to swallow the “reality” little by little. And PKR should do the same….

Dear Elizabeth,
You have proven yourself, your dedication to your Party and to the people you serve. The most important outcome of this episode is that people continue to SUPPORT and TRUST you because they BELIEVE in what you stand for. They BELIEVE in the OATH that you’ve taken last year. Everyone has low points in their lives. In your case, it wasn’t your own doing. Don’t succumb to these pressures but RISE ABOVE whatever challenges that come your way. Remember, you’re NOT alone. This country needs you.
