Former defacto Law Minister Zaid Ibrahim resigns as Senator, at the behest of the BN government.

Which goes to show, reforms will never happen under Umno, whether it’s led by Abdullah Badawi, Najid Razak or Mickey Mouse.

Hope everyone’s Raya was grand.

Save a day trip to Janda Baik and Bentong, mine was delightfully domestic, doing stuff that I once enjoyed like cooking, going to the supermarket, buying books (not withstanding the latest edition of the Environment Quality Act), doing the laundry, sleeping and reading 😀

Now for another nifty petition for the release of Raja Petra and all ISA detainees :-

Please do spread it around. Surely we can do better than the current 13k signatories?

Mesej Hari Raya Aidilfitri

YB Elizabeth Wong
EXCO Kerajaan Negeri Selangor
ADUN Bukit Lanjan

Insult the egg, and you get petrol bombs & bad language September 27, 2008

The Front for Defenders of Eggs (FRODE) upped the ante early this morning by lobbing two petrol bombs in the house of Teresa Kok.

Included was a sinister message in bad BM, published by Malaysiakini Chinese version, but not (yet?) in the English or BM versions) which reads,

“WOI TERESA BABI!!! LU JAGA SIKIT. JANGAN SUKA CARI PASAL … NANTI GUA BAKAR SAMA LU DENGAN LU PUNYA FAMILY, PAHAM!!! C*BA* LU TERESA KOK”

I’m confident the Sentul Police investigations are underway, unless they are a little preoccupied with trying to stop tonight’s anti-ISA vigil at Dataran Merdeka.

BN locks up Petra September 23, 2008

Barisan Nasional has just scored a world’s first for Malaysia.

First blogger locked up without trial.

The fact that Raja Petra’s 2-year ISA detention order was signed by the Minister of Home Affairs just the night before his habeas corpus hearing this morning, shows Petra’s case is political, and has nothing to do with the waffle that BN has saying. It lends further credence to the fact that putting Petra into Kamunting is not negation of some of the articles and documents published in Malaysia. Otherwise existing laws which allows Petra to have an open trial would have been used.

Which makes us ask yet again, a question which everyone knows the answer to by now – who stands to gain in putting a prolific writer in a detention camp?
