trackback
On Tuesday, my friend, Salman passed away at UH, a victim of a hit-and-run accident in the affluent Section 16.
He was walking back at around 10 pm and when he was hit, it was so loud some of his neighbours heard it, including his sister. She called an ambulance, not reaslising it was her brother who was hit.
I took some time off yesterday to visit his house. Election or no election, he was still my friend.
Salman was a keen photographer and we had been planned a group photo exhibition together. But of late, he is better known as the person who has been taking those fantastic panoramic photos, on the campaign trail of Anwar Ibrahim.
I was lucky to have caught with him last week and spoke about his work. “We got to sit down after the elections,” I’d said to him.
One of our madcap ideas last year was to go to Janda Baik with a group, stake our tripods and take night photos. There is said to be a spot filled with an abundance of stars. Now we won’t be able to do it.
This has cast a pall on the remaining days of the election. Many of us were aghast and broken that someone could drive and hit another person, and leave him there to die. I appeal to to anyone who may have witnessed this inhumane crime to let us know the details.
We shall miss you, Salman.
That’s a very nice gesture, Liz.. 🙂
Whatever it is..best of luck to Liz on the coming election.
May she be elected ….not only to win……but with huge majority….as we have enough of present government.

What a terrible thing to happen. My deepest condolence to his family and friends.
Dear Salman,
Wherever you are, you helped Malaysian to this victory. (9 March 2008)
God Bless.
Dear Elizabeth Wong,
I am Sumayyah, Salman’s elder sister. I would like to say thank you for your kind words and to all readers who has given our family your well wishes.
What happened to Salman was very tragic, but it did show how one can live courageously, fighting for something that they believe in, despite age barear, or any odds for that fact.
Again, thank you and let us remember Salman as one of the freedom fighters in Malaysia. Every little helps…
Your’s sincerely,
Sumayyah
