In today’s emergency meeting of the Bar Council, it has been decided that the lawyers in their full attire will march from the Palace of Justice (Court lah) to the site of the Cabinet meeting to hand in their protest!
Time: 11 am
Date: 26 September 2007, Wednesday
Venue: From Palace of Justice to PM’s Department, Putrajaya.
Everyone who isn’t part of the legal fraternity, please take the morning off and be there to support the lawyers!
More details to follow. Full report should appear on Malaysiakini later today.
Getting lawyers on a protest march?
Is that a sign of frustrations by the vast majority lawyers…out to stamp out crooked deals in court?
Is not not also ….proving Pak Lah is not doing his job well…to get lawyers protest this way?
I really hope a huge crowd will support this noble act by the great majority lawyers….whose noble profession and reputations are damaged by few.
Lawyers on protest….opposition party supporters on protest….residential dwellers are on protest….and the list goes on.
What have the government learn from all these protests…nothing else to do…but to create trouble?…is that what they are thinking?
A good start towards saving the judiciary. There`s a very good possibility that the FRU etc will be called in to thwart the `march`.
But I`m sure that the lawyers would have taken that into account.
Duly noted. Just got back to my desk. Exciting times in Malaysia! We the bloggers (proud to be one) are in business thanks to the inertia of the Malaysian news media.
Is this the beginning of a Malaysian version of the Pakistani march?
Hidup Amer “Che” Hamzah!
It is an illegal assembly & march. No permit granted. And it is not open to members of the Public or NGO or Opposition parties. Anyone taking part will be polished off
We are now begginning to see that the lawyers are now willing
to risk everything for the cause of “Justice” and such an act is
certainly appreciated by all Malaysians. To me I would say that action
speaks louder than just words> I personally salute all the lawyers
taking part and it is only through such actions that our cries will be
taken into consideration. To be sure we have enough of such
unbecoming acts and we are calling for a total revamp of the whole
judiciary, police as well as the Executive who are only thinking and scheming to enrich themselves. The lawyers can do it and I am sure
our Malaysian Lawyers can also perform likewise for the sake of our
children. I thank and salute you for your action.
Sorry. The lawyers in Pakistan can do it and I am sure our Malaysian
lawyers can also perform likewise for the sake of our children
max there. same thoughts here. march they will and be prepared for the retaliation force from the police who is at the bidding of the powers-that-be.
remember the current dirty nexus of the police, powers-that-be, ACA and the judiciary. they will do anything to preserve this nexus so that they can continue to plunder the country.
I’ve just been told that the Malaysian Bar must apply for a permit from the police to hold a public assembly.
Perhaps I should let you in on this: Many of us are forgetting that Ahmad Fairuz is Mahathir’s man. PM Abdullah has been trying to get rid of him so that he can appoint his proxy as CJ. Who that will be is anybody’s guess. And the PM can’t wait until Fairuz retires on 1 November. Why? There’s more to the present scandal than meets the eyes.
Cheers!
Cukuplah kita ditipu selama 50 tahun. Politikus-politikus jahat itu sudah kehabisan masa dan kini bukan masa untuk mengharap dan berkompromi dengan mereka lagi.
Tegakkan kuasa rakyat!
~Rakyat itu Raja, Raja itu Rakyat~
Jjonah -u are giving AAB too much credit

I very blur type.
In the name of justice,2 by 2 march/stroll on!
Doing whatever is necessary you must carry on
Against all wrongs you must condemn and frown on
It’s time for positive actions and no more excuses to sit on

“Palace of Justice ” ?!
This has not been established, has it?
Another of those blathering Newspeak and self aggrandizing Bolehland expression. So yucky!
lawyers in Bolehland
monks in Burma
let us see who got bashed first.
Both Burma and Bolehland are in the Abyss ; the difference in kind is purely academic.
Lawyers should not be caught with the so call ..breaking the laws ..being law abiding citizens themselves by not having a permit to go on a protest march.
They should go ahead..as all level headed Malaysians will understand and support them WITHOUT A PERMIT!!
The situation is grave for Malaysia….and it involves your reputation and future guardians of law in our country…no small matter.
It must be settled at all cost.
What better ways…Bar Council confront them for the truths.
Badawi is too busy with his wife to notice that.
There`s something missing in all this which will in the future be topical – to what extent was Ahmad Badawi part of the `Anwar Conspiracy`
AAB was in the US on the day when dsai was dethroned. This probly to manage the fallout n also organise the lebanese chauffeur`s testimony about getting women for anwar.
He was in the thick of it,i`m pretty sure. Up to him to prove his innocence. If this CJ thingy can come out now, somewhere along the line AAB`ll be dragged in as well.
54 years of my life and i have never seen Malaysia in such shitty state. Looks like this is the mother of all times!
The route of the march should be changed from Palace of Justice to the IJN in order to boo the mamak now in the ICU who started all this nonsense in the first place
Bermuda Triangle again…..

Two of my messages ..asking to move on were deleted by Liz. I wonder why.. Maybe she wants Aussie to response….hahahahahaa
I wonder how many people will march with the lawyers.
I hope a thousand people would turn up to support the lawyers’ initiative.
I ‘m not even sure that the lawyers will march in force although it’ll be good if they do so without demonstrating those past “reservations’ seen in their past inability to pull their acts together.
[…] 大馬比較有良知的律師們終於也按捺不住,要上街抗議了。 […]

This comment is very good foresight. Cheers…don’t hate me eternally. Bye.
